"Tuner" was the worst show ever.

I have to admit that I actually watched half of it, but I would rather stab myself in the eye with a ballpoint pen then to watch that again.

Discuss :)

Well I actually watched the whole thing. That was easily the worst car show I have ever seen by a large margin. Somebody in management is smokin' some good stuff and they obviously aren't sharing!

I think I'm going to have to stab both eyes out! On the positive side, my driving may finally improve... :P

Are you watching Sport Car Revolution? It appears to be pretty good, but I'm only about 5 minutes into it.

After watching the first show, I was bordering on the edge of watching the 2nd show. After seeing the intro, I decided I had enough pain for the evening.

What happened to the RSX that they were going to set up for the track? I wonder if I should press my luck and watch "Rides" at 9:00 on TLC.

Tuner Transformation actually makes "The Wrench"(remember that waste of brodcasting) look like it deserved an Emmy!

I watched Sports Car Revolution and it is basically Dream Car Garage without the L88 restoration. Actually I think the RSX might be their new L88. Not a "bad" show, but if I miss it again, I won't cry about it.

I agree with Tom, it makes you wish they would show the 1998 Daytona 500 for the 1,971st time.

I'll stick with Horsepower Tv. Good old fashioned hot rods. Ford/Chevy guys working on V8s. I want that Nova drag car they built
And having Danica Patrick do her 60 second thing doesn't hurt

I actually watched the WHOLE Daytona 500 this weekend. We gotta start autocrossing soon :!: :car:

"Tuner Transformation" was terrible. It seemed like a very poor attempt at trying to replicate the "American Chopper" or "Monster Garage" style of inter-personal shop dynmamics. Of course it failed miserably terrible acting and over-dramatization. Calling it the "worst show ever" though, may be a bit strong, at least it was sort of about cars and I'd rather watch a bad show about cars than a good show about quilting or "Jerry Springer" and day.

The second show, "Sports Car Revolution" wasn't so bad. They jumped around way too much, some of the segments decent, some of them not so decent, but way to many different segments. I guess it would be good for people with really short attention spans. :) Overall, 1000 times better than "Tuner Transformation" but thats not saying much.

And for those of you who might be concerned, I'm sure there will still be way more than enough NASCAR on Speed. I'm glad they are at least trying to produce and broadcast something other than NASCAR, even if the results are less than stellar. As it stands, its pretty sad that Spike TV and Discovery have much better "Car Guy" television than speed. And so far, that remains the case by a long shot.

BTW for those with HDTV, Discovery HD theater is showing the 2003 Tokyo Motor show and two episodes of "Rides" tonight from 8-11.

Well, they replaced the NASCRap with some other crap. They pissed off all the people who like that "other" racing stuff by putting on so much crashCAR, and now they've pissed off the NASCAR fans by putting on tuner crap. Can't they get anything right?

I'd actually like to see some coverage of the crashCAR Truck series so I can see Toyota kicking detroit's ass at its own game. Hmm, ~12 months to design an engine based on 50 year-old technology (check), assemble teams and create infrastructure (check), qualify 2 on in the top 10 for the first race (check), get two top 10 finishes in first race (check) - one a rookie and one a 2nd place. It almost doesn't get any better. Well, it would be better if Toyota drove Chevy to buy Ford/Cosworth engines for 'Cup like they did in IRL.... ...oh, I'm off subject and ranting...

Given the choice between NASCRap and tuner crap, I'd prefer the daily WRC rally coverage at 6:30 of years past. Throw a little F1 in there, and some SCCA stuff, and them a touch of that whacky truck racing from overseas, and, and, oh wait don't forget the TT motorcycle race - yeah, I'd never leave my TV.

(really, I'm not bitter)

Sounds like you watch the same stuff I do.

I miss the same day coverage that they used to do with WRC. Back in December (Christmas day maybe) they showed the SCCA runoffs back to back all day. I TiVoed it all. It has given me something to watch during the off season. :) Some of the races are not that exciting, but that is was Fast Forward is for. I have spectated at Mid-Ohio a number of times, so it is fun to watch races at that track since I know it pretty well.

Their same day Dakar coverage was good. The motorcycle guys are nuts. They interviewed a guy who had just crashed at speed a few minutes before. He was looking at his reflection in the camera lens so he could see what had happened to his face. It was swelling up from the impact. He hit pretty hard as he knew he was in the Dakar Rally, but couldn't remember what day it was of the rally.

"Motorsports Mundial" on Speed is a pretty good show. It has stuff such as European style truck racing (big rigs), British Rallycross Championship (very very cool), Isle of Man TT (would love to see on-bike video of one complete lap), F1 and MotoGP team interviews, Race of Champions, etc.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

OK, so the in the 2nd show, they took a STOCK 240SX and did a R20DET conversion with a FMIC, full coilover suspension, skyline brakes, and a pretty sweet looking widebody kit????

The acting/reaction still sucked, but I wish they dedicated a show to the actual WORK on the car, that would have been interesting.

You could flip a coin between Tuner and Nascar. How 'bout some real race cars. as in not a Taurus, Intrepid, Monte Carlo or Civic with one of those damned coffee can muflers and racing stripes.

ALMS, Grand AM, F1, and CART get my vote. Rally is cool too, but I prefer wheel to wheel racing.

Sports car revolution and that tuner thing were definately not very good, although id like to find a way to cram that RB20DET into the gti.... hmmmmmm

What ever happened to that show that used to come on Spike with the borthers that did Supras? At least they did some cool karting coverage and some autox coverage around the country.

Plus, who car argue with 800hp supras?
