The videos kind of suck because its handheld cameras and slip angles just don't show up well on video like that anyway, but you'll just have to trust me when I say I spent two days of driving out of out the side windows of the vehicle. :)

Here's my blog entry about it.

For those curious, it was $2300 for club members. That didn't include any travel, hotel, or food, but it did include a LOT of seat time in someone else's car in conditions pretty hard to replicate anywhere else. They had 300', 600', and 900' skidpads, two big "snow packs", and two decent sized road courses. Brian is talking about trying to get a couple beaters we can actually race wheel to wheel on the skid pad (the road courses aren't really wide enough).

Heck of a lot of fun, and several hours of good seat time.

Looked fun and educational. Can't beat that combo!

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Ahh the memories... that video reminded me of my wintery commutes to work when I was living up in Rochester. It was fun at times, but I can live without freezing my arse off every morning. Glad you enjoyed though.

Agreed. The same was true in my college years in Albany. Lots of snow. Good thing I was one of the original Subaru fanbois with my '86 3 door hatch with shift on the fly 4WD ;) - AB

Is your next stop the Bridgestone Winter Driving School?

Here's a video featuring that guy with the Gremlin in the H&T.

I guarantee what we did was a better school than the Bridgestone one or the Porsche one.

SUNY Albany. I was doing a 3+2 program -> 3 years at Albany and you get a Bachelor of Science in Physics then 2 years at RPI and get a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical). I was to graduate in '94, but a lot of people ahead of me weren't getting jobs in '92 & '93, so I switched gears and got a double in Math & Economics with a Physics minor. All things considered, I think I'm better off.

After I graduated, I taught tennis for a while, which included coaching the Russell Sage Tennis team (All Women School) which was entertaining to say the least ;) - AB

Not sure too many here know, but THSCC's own Matthew Johnson is one of the instructors at the Bridgestone school when he's not busy rallying.

Haven't they ever heard of a background check?

sounds like fun. though i think the entry fee would be difficult. however.. with studded tires and snow next year, perhaps we should hold a ice rallycross.
