Back from the dead.

I know there have been a couple of Piloti shoe threads- but I found some more of these in stock today and wanted to pass it on.

Ross Dress for Less in Garner at White Oak shopping center (White Oak Rd/Hwy 70/I40) has some Piloti shoes for $19.99. Most of what I saw were the "32" style, but they did have one pair that I think was the Prototipo. I picked up a pair of the 32's in Grey/Blue/Black. The sizes I saw were 9.5/10/10.5/11/11.5.

FWIW, I normally wear 10.5 or maybe 11, but I barely fit into the 11's so I bought the 11.5.


I know Ross stores had some of these about 6-9 months ago, they seem to be very hit and miss as far as what sizes/styles they have at the different stores, but if you're interested it's probably worth a trip.

Ok, I jumped on these when this thread started, and Malia and I both bought a pair (after visiting 5 or 6 different Ross stores over a couple week period). I have to say though after buying them, I really don't care for those models as driving shoes, and much prefer my wrestling shoes which have very, very thin soles, and even my New Balance running shoes have better pedal feel. The shoe construction is fine, but the soles are just too thick and stiff, IMO. I'm sure this comment doesn't apply to ALL Piloti shoes, but I throw this out as a warning to those who may still be looking.

All that said, I DO wear my Piloti's to work on occasion, and it often sparks interesting conversations, so it's not all bad.

Oh, I agree 100%. The soles are too thick to make good driving shoes IMHO, and I think that most Piloti shoes seem to have very thick/stiff soles.

But for $20, they are definitely worth considering for general purpose casual shoes.

agreed, i tried on a couple of pair of pilotis at cdoc and didn't like them. but shortly thereafter i found a pair of sketchers at kohls that are excellent driving shoes with thin soles and a rounded heel, iirc they cost about $35.
