Thanks to the guys at Livernois.

Keep in mind, a stock C6 Z06 makes roughly 440 RWHP / 430 RWTQ on the same dyno.

We were amazed at the numbers and pulled it a total of 3 times to see if it would back them up. It was within a few hp/tq every pull.
It made 571 RWHP / 540 RWTQ.

thats 696 at the crank...given 18% loss.

I instructed for the National Corvette Museum event in June at VIR on Full Course. GM sent out 5 ZR1's. No one was allowed to drive them except the engineers who brought them. I think that clear plexiglass SC cover is kinda gay. The car hauls ass though. I chased one into Oak Tree then coming out of it. He pulled me like I was standing still. 405hp and you are low man on the totem pole!!! One thing with that SC car is you need to keep the revs up. Almost seemed to act like a turbo car. I jumped a couple of them out of Oak Tree cause they bogged the motor. They of course caught me about 100 yards later when that thing spun up. You can hear it whine as it spins up. I was waiting for the thing to overheat and have issues. All 5 survived the 2 days just fine. It's been an ongoing issue with any Vette that has an SC and overheating on track.

Lots of HP is good. Too much HP is just right

Color me skeptical. Maybe they were in too high of a gear to keep from spinning the tires, or did spin the tires?

The dyno plots I see show 475 ft-lbs at 2500 rpm and 500 ft-lbs at 3000 rpm. It starts falling off after about 4000 rpm. It's hard to be out of the powerband in that case (and certainly doesn't need revs to be happy).

That would also be my guess..having to wait on the throttle to keep from spinning things.

I also know that unlike many aftermarket S/C Corvetted, this engine was built for forced induction, so I don't think it will have the over heating issues.

Scott you're probably right on that. It was just my observation. One of the engineers mentioned that even with the wide powerband. The sweet spot is keeping it closer to 4Krpm. Mine acts the same way. My dyno plot makes the engine look very linear. Dynos are for showing off... When my engine hits 4K shit happens. It pulls like mad. Maybe it is just SOTP.

Marty a lot of the guys running 1 of the 2 good aftermarket SCs. They are getting the whole engine rebuilt for it. It's not the motor. It's not getting enough cool air in the engine bay and then extracting the hot air out. The ones that do well have oversized DeWitt radiators and extractor hoods. They still run damned hot though after even a 20 minute session. GM did something with this SC setup that is supposed to help not get it so hot in the 1st place. We'll see how they do over time.

All the cars had factory stock tires and brakes. No mods at all. So I'm sure spinning the tires is a big concern. On street tires I would have to stay in 3rd for Oak Tree and let the engine bog a little so I don't light them up. With some wider Hoosiers on there I can drop to 2nd if I want and jump on it. It spins a bit but not uncontrollable.

Anyway that was my observations from chasing them around the track whenever I saw one. They are cool. Well past my budget though...
