since it is apparent that the "godless" democrats will be elected enmasse, i have decided to pack the family and head south. when the mass exodus hits i figure i will be closer to the banana boats this way. booking seaward escape to the southern continent should be easy with the assistance of my AMEX. oh wait, maybe not. but i digress.

i suspect that Mickey and Minnie will hardly hint of the forthcoming doom that awaits us all. they already understand it has been a century of make believe characters running things, and certainly one election will not likely change the status quo.

chastise me as you will, especially if i have guessed (and voted) incorrectly. 'cause that's the news and i'm outta here.

Godless? You've been watching too many anti-Kay Hagan ads. Enjoy Disney World and learn not to buy into the propaganda. - AB

Bug zapper for thieving kids FTW! Yeah, I would have done it, too.

I giggled.

There's a reason why I didn't put my McCain sign right next to the mailbox by the road ...

Aaron, honey baby. it's sarcasm. but to a serious note. what makes a 9 year old take down McCain signs and replace them with that other guy's signs? his parents? peer pressure? maybe it is the fact that even a child (albeit a recalcitrant child) realized that one guy won because of TV presence.

sure, this time it was the right guy, but again i digress. late flight tomorrow, i think i shall go smoke a cigar and get drunk. peace my beaubies. 8)

Please lets not turn this forum into the cesspool of what passes for political discussions online. We don't have a a rule explicitly against it, but we do ask people to be respectful.

Steve, if you read your comments with an open mind you will see that there is nothing that indicates that you are trying to make a joke.

I apologize in advance for locking this thread, but I am personally really tired of watching threads like this dissolve into anarchy on other forums.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

After receiving an IM from an uninvolved party, I have decided that I may have overreacted and have unlocked this thread.

I am probably over sensitive to the entire topic (political threads, not one party vs. the other). Another forum that I visit frequently is now about 50%+ political discussions and despite forum rules to keep it civil, it is way out of hand. It is making me want to stop visiting that particular site.

One common problem I see when discussing touchy topics like race, religion and politics is that it is very easy for comments meant in jest to be taken the wrong way. In my opinion it’s the responsibility of the poster to make it obvious what his true intent is. People forget that normal face to face conversations involve more than just words. Tone, body language, etc. help define the intent. That is why forums have emoticons. At least one “wink” emoticon would have changed Steve’s post from “Is he joking!?” to “He is joking!”

You could also say “he was over the top in his comment, so he must be joking”. When it comes to topics like this, there is no over the top. No matter how over the top you think it is, there is someone who thinks that and people who are also willing to believe that the comment is sincere.

Feel free to discuss. :D

I vote to re-lock it - don't know about others, but I've had way more than my fill of political BS lately and was bummed to see it invade the THSCC forums. Can't even listen to the radio or watch TV for more than a couple minutes without getting bombarded with one 'he sucks / she sucks' negative political ad after another - it's gone beyond ridiculous.

IATL and IBTL - that's a first.

This one was easy - Steve is *always* joking

I don't care about Lock or Unlock but couldn't agree MORE on being sick of political ads.

I'm glad this thread was unlocked, censure is the right hand tool of tyranny and despots. Locking it because of what might be said, or if you don't like the subject or author is way over the top in my estimation. Each one of us has censure power over what we read. Simply don't read the thread once you're aware of the subject matter. Just my opinion. Now you can lock it again, I don't involve myself in politics either, so I won't be back here.

Speaking of Mickey...

I'm writing in Mickey for President and Goofy as his running mate. I figure that cartoon characters could run this country as good as either of the bumbling morons that are running for it!!!

ACTUALLY..............

You can't do that. You can only vote for Obama, McCain, Barr, McKinney, and Nader

That's it.
