damn, I REALLY like this car! ....but.... at 3900# for the v8, that's just to freaking heavy. I'm going to have to ride this one out to see how it shapes up as a daily driver and potential autoxer.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Yeah, I dont really get it either.

The Camaro gets completely OWNED by the Mustang and Challenger. Hell, maybe even the Charger!

Hows that?

The new Camaro V6 is just as fast as the mustang GT, and 3 full seconds quicker to 60 than the Current Challenger v6. Out of the V8 models, it will be the quickest except for the special edition models (GT500, and SRT).

Of course looks are subjective.

I guess I'm too old as I don't get the WWII pillbox look of some modern cars. Eventually I guess side windows will be simple slots for your gun?

You've been spending too much time on Bimmer forums, I think it looks great. Clearly the best adaptation of a retro look, behind the Mini of course.

Sure it's heavy but its for cruising main street!

I was unsuccessful in quickly finding the weight and power output on the Shelby GT Mustang. Anyone got a quick comparison handy between it and the numbers on this car?

Personally, I like it better than the Challenger, but that isn't saying much. I agree with Richard. But I think the Challenger will be gone by then, too.

The new Camaro is not as fast as the GT (0-60 - est 6.1 vs 5.1). It also weighs about 300lbs more than a GT. Sure when the V8 arrives it will be faster, but the thing weighs 3900lbs. Of course I just purchased a S197 GT so I've taken off my honda hat and put one on with a blue oval so I'm not biased :) . On top of it all I paid considerably less for the GT than the RS will cost before you factor in sticker markup and demand.

Dammit Michael, you were supposed to buy MY Mustang!! I was saving it for you!!!! Seriously, congrats on the new car. When will we see it at an autocross?

Back on topic. I like the looks of the new Camaro. Unfortunately I think it is the right car at the absolute wrong time. 5 years ago it would have sold like hot cakes.

I had made up my mind to either a 03-04 mach1 or a S197 GT. Crystal really likes the S197 body style better so I let her talk me into that. Your car drove great, I'm sure you won't have any trouble selling it.

I plan to run it in the 09 season, but haven't decided which class yet... the proposed 9" STX wheel rule brings up interesting possibilities.

I agree the general took way to long on the camaro, Did it really take ~5 years to get the car to production from the original concept to production?

I think it looks great. Although in certain profile shots, I struggle to tell it from the Challenger.

I hope it doesn't get killed on perceived fuel economy issues. Corvettes get high 20s on the highway, no reason why this couldn't get close to that.

Biggest problem, for me, is the size of it. All of them - Challenger, Mustang, Camaro - seem unnecessarily large to me.
