OK... this board is always good for a music discussion...

Being a former wanna-be musician, I'm also a wanna-be concert DVD junkie. I have a few, but a couple I'm a little disappointed in (others I can't watch enough).

I just got in the mail yesterday my pre-order, member advanced copy of Tesla's new concert DVD: Comin' Atcha Live! 2008 and it is fantastic! Haven't even watched the special features yet which includes backstage and behind-the-scenes stuff. Releases to the masses on the 15th.

My favorite thus far though is the Live at Red Rocks concert DVD that Incubus put out a few years back. Incredible videography and sound, and an outstanding performance. I haven't seen their newest live DVD, but I plan on picking it up soon.

So... In terms of live concert DVD's, tell me what you like, and any to stay away from.

- Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii is a must have. It's brilliant, done during the making of DSOTM.
- Queen Live at Wembley Stadium. Amazing stuff, and the next to last concert that Freddie Mercury ever did. It's in DTS as well.
- U2 Rattle and Hum. An old favorite that I dust off at least twice a year.
- Woodstock. It's worth it for Santana's Soul Sacrifice if nothing else. Great on a widescreen tv due to how Scorsese et al edited it (at times it goes three screens wide).
- The Last Waltz by The Band. Perfection.

NIN And All that Could Have Been and Beside You in Time.

If you Blu-ray or HD, the latter is available in both. And it's pretty impressive.

Of course, if you don't care for NIN, then. . . well. . . you probably should be glad you didn't pay for the advice.

Maybe an ITR in DS.
Or half-assed STX prepped 330.

George Harrison's Concert for Bangladesh is outstanding, not necessarily for the videography (which is still good)....but for the music & historic nostalgia....lots of famous musicians. Leon Russell's performance rocks. Its all real good, even the Indian music with Ravi Shankar.

I owe Wes a copy of Operation: Livecrime, the live version of Queensryche's epic concept album. In trade for the copy of Rattle and Hum he burned for me, which is absolutely epic.

That concert was, hands down, the best I've ever been to - I need to get my hands on a copy of that DVD.

Glastonbury Fayre.

Documentary on the second (1971) Glastonbury Festival, back when it was truly a British hippie gathering. No flash or commercialism, just completely straightforward and free spirited.

Amazing performances by bands like Arthur Brown, Family, Fairport Convention, Gong, Kingdom Come, Magic Michael, Melanie, Quintessence, and Traffic. Stuff you'd never see anywhere else.

The British may not have invented hippies, but we took it and ran with it as if we had just thrown out the Roman Empire all over again.

Famiily. Traffic. Gong. Arthur Brown. Fairport. I mean, this is, like... IT, man!

IMHO, beats Woodstock with a nail-encrusted 2x4. Or more likely, says to Woodstock, "That's OK, man, you tried," and passes it a joint.
