OK, I need some advice from you BMW guys. I need to order an emissions air pump for the ’98 528. These things are pricey new and I’m looking for a used pump. Any advice for salvage places either local or on the web?

If you have to buy it new, try www.getbmwparts.com. You can use www.realoem.com to get the part number you need, and then stick it into the parts section of getbmwparts.com site. It will show you the BMWNA MSRP for the part and also their price which is usually at least 20% off. That site is run by Tischer BMW in Maryland.

Bret turned me on to Martins, so I've called and they are holding the air pump for me. I pick it up Friday, so at least no shipping on this one. I also have the check valve on order so I only have to change this once. Learned that lesson on the 328....

BTW, Mike, how did you get this list? What did you use?

Thanks for all the help!!

http://www.car-part.com/

I've used this service also for lots of parts over the past 5+ years, it's basically a salvage yard search.
