JUst got my Grassroots Motorsports. Looks like one of our own is pictured on page 26! Jeff Underwood and his Seven.

I just flipped through it, but long time THSCC member Dave Blum is featured in there as well with his Fairmont wagon....

Am I going to have to resubscribe? I mean, after all of the articles I've read in that magazine about stupid projects like swapping a 12A rotary into a Peugot 405, or converting a rusty Spitfire into... a rusty Spitfire, this could mean they're finding their way out of the wilderness.

Or not.

I dropped my subscription 5 years ago when J.G. Pasternak (or whatever his name is) went out of his way to insult Fox body Mustang brakes. Not that I'm senstive about that subject, no, not at all :roll:

I guess I was trying to cut back on my car magazine subscription problem at the time (anybody want the first 10 years of Racer Magazine? some are still in their plastic wrappers) and he gave me a ready excuse.

Seriously? Yeah, I'd love to read them. The Tech Talk section of the Roundels in my bathroom are worn thin and I need something interesting to read in there.

Really if you have old Racer mags I'll take them off your hands.

I love GRM. My employees know if one comes in the office after I have left they have to call me and notify me that it is there so I can come back and pick it up. I love all the screw ball stuff they do, as well as the things that have application to the stuff we do. I got Road & Track for years but I realized I was never going to be the kind of guy the was going to need a comparision test of the latest supercars. The best thing about R&T was Peter Egan, I think GRM carries on in that vein.

I have also had a couple of conversations with Tim Suddard and he seems to be a really nice guy.

Having at one time owned 3 (yes Three) Triumphs, all at one time, you have offended me! I liked my Spitfire with out rocker panels, great weight savings. But since you have stopped getting GRM they have moved all the old school stuff to Classic Motorsports.

1. As an insurer of fine automobiles it is my responsiblilty to keep abreast of trends in the automotive industry. I take this responsibility very serious.

2. Hey I like to work on stuff, old British cars make that very easy. Easier than say, breaking out your rear window.

Someone else tipped me off about this a couple of days ago, but I have not received the issue yet.

I think they do that on purpose, makes you go out an buy a couple of copies. I wrote a letter that got in one time and I had let my subscription run out and didn't know it was in there until I started getting emails from people who had googled me.

Never had to worry about all running. I exagerated a little anyway. Lets see Spitfire first while in colleage (traded really nice74 Firebird with 455 even for Yellow 72 Spitfire with no rocker panels). Caught the British bug found a 61 TR3A in the middle of a restoration project. Bought it is boxes with proceeds from a student loan. Spitfire blew up, got the engine rebuilt, rear end went bad, sold to mechanic for $200. Over the course of a couple of years painted TR3A with wagner super sprayer in apartment parking lot. Did a lot of cosmetic stuff. Took it to a Ferrari mechanic in Durham who got it running, Drove for exactly 45 minutes until it stopped dead again.

In the meantime, I had found a Tr6 on the back of a car lot specializing in 4wd pickups in Sanford. Bought it. Ran great, only problem was going over a railroad track the frame broke in two. Welded back together Actually sold it for a profit when I needed some money. A year or so later sold the TR3a when I needed some money, it was still sitting at the Ferrari Mechnics shop waiting to be worked on.

Wow, that was like a therapy session, I think I need to cry a little.
