true 5 passenger car that doesn't drive like a sofa on beach tire wheels sucks. The cars are either really soft, or really expensive. Especially looking for one thats either RWD or AWD and a manual. There are plenty of 4, 4.25, and 4.5 passenger vehicles out there. Well, I wouldn't even rate many as that 4.5.

We already have a people mover that seats 8. I just want a car that will be a good daily driver that can trasport us in a pinch if the other larger vehicle is out of commission. After our elimination round from this weekend here's what is left on our list:
Charger (even though the wife doesn't really like it)
Legacy GT (It would be a very tight fit though)
08 Altima (this has a surprising good rear seat, nice engine and m6, but it is FWD)
Saab 9-5
BMW 3 series (IF it has the bench like seats and not the bucket ones, but it as tight, if not tighter than the legacy.)
The BMW 5 series (but doen't have any more room that the 3???)
Lexus GS
Acura RL (The TL has rear Buckets)
Toyota Avalon (Good car, but very Boring)
Infinity M35/M45
and if we can find a G8 to look at, but I am wary considering I have been burned recently with my GM vehicles.

The 300C has been rules out by spouces veto option.

The wagon versions offer now more passenger space than the sedans, only more cargo room, so I will stick with the sedans for now.

Curse me and my fertile loins!!

The G35 doesn't seat 5, unfortunately. The M35 does, but it's a bit pricey.

my mother has a bmw 5 series 1992 525i. dark green four door, and we have taken it on long trips down to wilmington and charlotte nc, winston salem nc, and others. for four people and a big dog it works ok. or the 535d when it eventually gets here.. maybe a infiniti m45. it is a automatic, but it is 4 or 5 seats, rwd and v8 powered. nice. maybe a legacy sedan h6.

A possibility? I'm not a Ford guy by any stretch of the imagination, but this car has always intrigued me.

And maybe later add a supercharger...mmmmmmmm

(and it has the added effect of making everyone get out of your way when you roll up on em on the highway  )

Though it's "just" FWD, I suggest you pick up a 1994-5 Taurus SHO 5-speed for a few thousand dollars, budget 15K for ongoing repairs (may need a bit more to bribe the seller of the last remaining factory valvetrain shim kit) and you will be set! True 5 passenger seating, a big honking trunk (good for toting your race wheels to Hubcap Heaven to be reshod), and when the secondary butterflies pop open at 4K under WOT in 1st gear, it's fun to see if you can grab 2nd before you blow by the 7K redline!

If you had been looking 5 years ago, I would have sold you mine.

The truth is, what you want probably doesn't exist new.

Well.. there is that.

I vote for the Altima. Looks cool, appears to have decent space, and you can get the V6 with a manual. And, you won't have to apologize to your Z-car buddies.

That might actually be the best Craigslist ad I've ever seen.

AWESOME. People looked at me weird here at work wondering what I was laughing about so much.
