In the past few days I've noticed a significant increase in download times. Pages are taking longer than ever to load on both my computers. Anyone else?

I have not called RR yet...I can already hear the various explanations as to why its my fault and not theirs.

Yes.

But I'm not able to access Hotmail/MSN at all........so I was thinking it was a Hotmail/MSN outage since every other site I check works, albeit slowly.

I saw in the N&O something about a major underwater data cable break near India Thurs/Fri this week which caused major headaches for that area of the world as far as internet connectivity, wonder if this is a related problem.......??

Time Warner dropped an OC-192 (a regional pipe) Friday morning. This, in conjunction with global re-routing of traffic from the connection problems in India, is causing you to see some slowness or time-outs.

This information came from Hosted Solutions when we dropped internet connections Friday at the office. It took Hosted about 10 minutes to route their traffic away from Time Warner to other carriers.

And Technical support for all software, hardware, and Customer Service for all sites will be unavailable until India is able to rejoin the ether.

I call it a good year when I do not have to deal with "Please to be helping you" technical support. This year is already shot. It took me 20 min to get through that my Turbo Tax software did not show up. :banghead:

Try housecall to scan for viruses http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_corp.asp
It's free and up to the minute with definitions. I won't buy a commercial antivirus program to be held hostage to keep buying updates afterwards.

I contacted RR to log a formal complaint mainly. Good thing I had no expectations. I got some generic answer about there being a slow down and they are working to get it resolved. When I asked if they had more specific information, I was told just to wait and try it later. I guess I can appreciate that he was trying his best.

Seems to be off and on to me. This morning it's been quite snappy.

damn, so i am solid on Satellite except for my internet connection. Charter Comm is stroking me on my hi-speed cable connection. back in the day their current price would have included all the pay channels irregardless of the internet.

Sprint wants my business, do i cave and go with DSL? i hear DSL sucks for upload speed. is this correct?

Last time I looked, residential cable and DSL were both limited to 384Kbps for uploads. Verizon offers a $19.95 768Kbps DSL, whose upload speed is capped at 128Kbps.

sorry Art, but i am deaf to the numbers. my home office requires more incoming than outgoing i believe, but as i don't truly understand it all i can't say for sure.

i believe i am getting scalded by my local cable internet provider, but as i understand, it is the most efficient system for my particular needs.
