Weather permitting, I will drive the Nurburgring Sunday March 2. I will rent a car form that place: http://www.rent-racecar.de/
I received the reservation confirmation yesterday. Even with more than a month in advance they had only 3 cars left available for that weekend.
I just had the confirmation last week that I was going to Germany so I was not able to reserve before that.
I took an Audi TT, a new car not even on their website yet, but should be on it soon. My Swedish friend leaving in Germany will come with me. He was with me when I did Hockenheim a few years ago and he is looking forward to go at the Ring.
This time the timing is good, the kids will be in school track out, so the family is coming with me for 2 weeks. ( they will be back here when I go to the Ring ). We will have a few days by ourselves at the beginning to visit and 1 weekend. During the week they can take the train and visit around when I'm working.
Will try to post pictures when possible.

Have fun! I am going to make this happen for myself some day, just don't know when.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Me jealous too. I drove it about 3 years ago, but only a couple of laps in a diesel Renault with luggage in it  . It was still a blast.

Remember, there is now a ban on in-car cameras so in car video is no longer allowed. I think you may get 1 free pass if they catch you but they will ban you if they see you videoing from in car. Damn lawyers are even catching on to Europe apparently

I drove it about 10 years ago- on our honeymoon ;)

We rented a Nissan Primera 1.6l 16v, it was brandy new when we picked it up in Frankfurt- had like 16 km on it. After the first lap, Kelly said "I think the car is smoking under the hood"........it was the first time it got really hot, so all the cosmoline and assembly lube was burning off.

We saw a couple of cars that went off and hit the armco- a nice yellow 911 and a ricey looking VW Polo, both had body damage but the owner/driver was smiling for some reason...

We also saw an Audi with "Auto Motor und Sport" stickers on it- pretty sure it was a magazine car test, they were flying!!

Kelly jokes that the only thing I passed was the service truck that was puttering around the track picking up grass clippings!!!

Yes, I saw that also. My friend will be probably riding with me. So he should be able to take a few pictures incognito.
As for video, because of the ban and that it will be probably to shaky anyway if he try. We will probably not do it.
The rental car company seem to be watching more also, I saw somewhere on the net that a guy was ban for life from renting car from Hertz because he took one of their car on the Ring.

This add to the reason I'm renting form the company above beside they have nicer car with rollcage racing seat, etc. and they are prepare for the ring. We will see how it goes.

It is my understanding as well that car rental companies exclude use of car at the ring and that they do watch for their cars at the car park. That is why I will probably do what you are doing. Rent a DRT (Dedicated Ring Toy).

My car was from Hertz  but it was before they started banniing that (I checked). The bans are becoming more prevalent. Have fun.
