Did you see the driver hit the brakes about 600 ft out at the top of the back straight away? The thing has the largest rotors in the business made of Carbon Fiber-WAXER  I would have caught him there in my Mini

You and your mini would have been so far back, you would never have seen the brake lights. Probably not a bad thing to do at the speeds that car is capable of to do a little brake check.

Turn 14 is the one spot on full course that I still get the willies coming into. Please, please, please brakes do your job.

X 2

That is where I had my throttle stick wide open at the Feb NASA event last year. Scary chit.

Also, Cline, that ZR-1 could quite possibly be going about TWICE as fast as your Mini when he hit the brakes.

Im just sayin'

The first track event I ever did back in 1981 at Road Atlanta (Walter Mitty Challenge), Brian Redman was leading the driver's meeting, and he said he often used a slight brake tap under full throttle on the back straight, and if it didn't feel just right, he knew not to go full bore into the plunge/bridge turn. He also said that at RA (probably applicable idea elsewhere) that if you felt "something funny" with the brakes going into turn 7, chances are you'd be in trouble with them by the bridge no matter that they can cool all the way down the back straight.

His wise advice likely saved me strife at RA back in those days of marginal brakes (heck, even if I did use asbestos laden Ferodo DS11's  ). I've carried that plan with me through all the tracks I've driven since then. I'd rather be conservative than sorry.

Looked to me like he was braking to turn right for bitch. They may have been running VIR Grand East (or is that west?).

Car looks good. The video was just a puff piece though. Yawn. I would have liked a speedometer overlay on the screen to get an idea of just how quickly the car was accelerating.

Just watched the video. Grand East. Yep, he's definitely getting track left and braking heavily to enter the bitch.

From what I have read and heard, they have been running this car on most of the tracks on the eats coast, and will release the lap time numbers when they release the other performance data.

I heard from someone that was there that the car spun the tires all the way up the hill after turn 1 and 10B on Road Atlanta.

My car is still more of a chic magnet than that compensation mobile!!

My scariest time going into bitch was topping the hill (having not hit the brakes yet as I was probably going half the speed of a corvette and I have good Napa brakes) and seeing a Mustang with his BACKUP LIGHTS on backing back on to the track. I said something in the class room setting about it (SVT COBRA Club) and the lead instructor said. Yep that was my student and I was making sure he was being real careful getting back on track!

I think he meant to say "I have CHEAP NAPA brakes".

I use CHEAP NAPA brakes too ($24) but they are on the REAR of my car.

Wow. I hope I don't get that kind of instruction at the ITR Expo in June.

Anyhow, it seems the Blue Devil Vette turned into a Yellow Jacket version. I'm guessing this is older footage though.

I use NAPA rotors too, but "cheap" is a relative term. 13" rotors are now $59 each for my car. That's cheap compared to the $150 each 2-piece design I was running. Funny thing is the "cheap" ones last the same amount of time, which is about 3.5 events.
