That build date is at the end of the long DOT number on one side of the tire. The DOT number on the other side won't have it at the end. Also, Tire Rack will not tell you the build date on tires you are buying in my experience.

TR has had the 245/40/17 out of stock on the website for the last couple days, but the 2005's popped back up there today. Unfortunately, they aren't actually orderable, confirmed by the sales guy via phone

HOWEVER, they DO still have the final production runs (2008 build?) for $116, with the downside of much higher shipping than normal, since they are only at their Nevada warehouse. But, despite the additional ~$50 in shipping they are still cheaper than anything else out there, have proven to be a good tire for both track and AX for the last year, and is a HELLUVA lot cheaper than than the $173+shipping a piece that I paid last year.

I'm happy!

I saw that they had those in a 2005 build date for like $78, but then I came to my senses and convinced myself that my wife doesn't need those to drive to work on everyday and nabbed some AST's. Tempting though...

Whohoo,
I just grabbed the last official shipment tires from the factory for $77. These are straight from the factory and should be part of the last batch built. Thank you Tire rack and Mark Cooper.

My shipment arrived yesterday. They are 2006 tires manufactured in the 8th and 9th week.
