how is the treadlife on the RE01Rs? Thinking of picking up a set for my car but I was wondering if it would last as my street + monthly autox tire.

I will get about 22k miles out of my 01Rs. For comparison, I got 7k miles out of re070s (two sets each lasted 7k), and 7k miles out of the old and new style Azenis. The 01R's are by far my favorite daily drivers and occasional auto-xers.

Yeah, and I just don't get that! The 070's just don't last and yet they aren't a very good autocross tire at all. How the hell can the 01R last three times longer AND be a kick ass autocross tire? It's mind boggling. But true. Will be interesting to see if the 11R can last on the street.

FWIW, all I could ever get out of 070's on the STi was about 7k. But I also didn't autocross them (well, generally...I've autocrossed on them once or twice).

Just to throw this in for comparison, I got 18k and a season of autocross out of my first set of Dunlop Direzza's. I only got around 12k out of Azenis.

Yeah the 255 was NOT listed but was available if you called early this morning

Now reports are 255's will not be coming in at all

WOW...good to know that NEXT time I can call and ask for a desired tire that may not be listed! I reallyyyy would have liked the 255/40/17 01R but have settled on the 245/40/17's again. $116/ea for this tire is too good to pass up and they were ordered today.

Donnie: Regardless of occasional autoX or not 7k was the magic number for any tire I tried up to the 01Rs. I read posts by STi owners stating that they're getting > 20k miles per set of 070s and have to wonder if their cars are just highway queens :)

Yeah, I'm with you. They just don't wear good if you drive the car at all. *sigh*

I've been bootleggin' it with RE-01R's on the front and overpriced and undersized (255) Pilot Sports on the back.

Hopefully I'll drop a little time with RE-01R's (275's on closeout ftw) on the rears in Laurinburg.

Hersh, let me know what you think of the tires after the event...

My RE-01Rs shipped today. $288 shipped for a set of four! I might have a few events left on the Azenis before I switch over. I'm definitely looking forward to some fresh tires.

"Me too"

Picked up a set of the 2005 closeout tires for $59 a tire. As Ryan told me, "You can't buy PepBoys specials for that cheap."

Matt,

Not sure if I will have them on for the first event but definitely by the second.

They're dropping in price too. I paid $116/per two weeks ago for 245/40/17 from TR and now they're $103.

You probably got a newer build date. Those are the 2005 build date tires, not that I think it matters. - AB

For future reference, how do you know the build date?
