Sorry, but when you have someone tear apart every post I make here, even for spelling errors, the "joke" wears thin after a while.
As the forum admin I have some personal observations on this entire topic.
First, people who race (autocross, wheel to wheel, whatever) tend to fall into two categories in my opinion. The first are those who buy whatever equipment that it takes to win and have little or no loyalty to a particular marque. If that means switching cars each year, then so be it. Each car is just a tool to help them win. The second group are those who enjoy a specific marque (i.e. Ford, Chevy, Honda, Porsche) and tend to buy and drive one of those cars even if they are not ultimately the top car for the class, series, etc. of your choice. People may tend to call this second group “fanboys”.
There really isn’t a problem with being either type. I tend to be more the second group than the first. I love Honda and Porsche and am not afraid to say so. IMHO, oddly you are a combo of the two. You and Donna have a history of car purchases that put you into the first category (no problem with that), but at the same time, once you pick your ride, you seem to fall into the second group.
Due to the polar opposite nature of these two groups, they tend to give each other a hard time. I am sure that if I popped up on a Ford or Chevy forum and started to post things that didn’t fit within that community, then I would get flamed. The same goes if you show up in a forum that really doesn’t serve a particular marque (such as here). If you talk like you have been drinking the Kool-Aid, people will look at you funny.
You mention Marty and others who post lots of “new car info” and wonder why people don’t jump on them. The point is that they (as far as I can tell) are not just posting about a particular marque or car. And that also doesn’t mean that some of their posts don’t generate interesting discussions.
I did a quick search of your past posts and while you claim everyone jumps on you at every chance you will find that is not the case. Do a search on your own posts and you will see that if you leave out the “fanboy” style posts, you generally get treated much like anyone else. Or if you do have a love for a specific marque and you are not afraid to show it (such as Art McDonald does for Ford), then try to not take yourself so seriously as it goes a long way toward helping. If I was to start posting Honda fanboy style posts on a regular basis and expect everyone else to have the same enthusiasm level as I do, then I pretty much opening myself up for others to give me a hard time.
So I think it should be pretty obvious to you by now that based upon your recent history, that if you post ANYTHING about a Solstice at this point you are just feeding those who are going to give you a hard time.
I try to go under the assumption that we are all adults here and that some level of poking fun at each other is OK. I personally have a hard time gauging the seriousness of the by now familiar Chuck Frank vs. The world (mostly Aaron Buckley and Wes Eargle) battles. They seem to be about the same thing over and over again, and the participants keep coming back to do battle on a regular basis. If I kept getting my feeling hurt, I would probably change how I acted online. Everyone involved (including you) must actually enjoy this if you all keep revisiting topics that guarantee these types of threads? So who am I to stop your “fun” as long as it doesn’t fly in the face of the forum rules?
If you really feel you are being treated unfairly and you are a totally innocent party then please let me know.
