Bernie - I'm going to put on my Classroom Instructor hat for a moment, and preach a little.

Get a rollbar and a set of belts for that thing at the very least.

It put down 406rwhp/375ft/lbs at the wheels. also strapped it down in Indianapolis a few weeks later to check the afr and it put down 403/375.

Bernie, you actually have me wondering ... what the hell am I doing wasting my money on BMWs?!? I need a Corvette. Badly.

As I said in one of the other threads about this. Nice ones can be found for under 30K I paid 28 for it. And it drives through mountains provided there's holes in them (tunnel humor). Walter you look older than me you ought to buy one based on how you look rather than actual age.
Point of intrest it gets better gas mileage than the stock C5 that I wrecked
32.4 for 600 mile trip through the mountains and I wasn't light on the throttle. I did light it off several times. average speed was five mph above the speed limit. I think I really like this car. Walter and I can have a noise contest at the next autoX.

Is Miles' 1991 still for sale? Z07 suspension and the bucket-o-torque L98 motor. But there's nobody for you to run against in A-stock.....

I accept the challenge of a "Mine is Louder than Yours" contest.

I'm not old enough to buy a Corvette. You have forgotten what my wife says. "You are only as old as the woman you feel". That makes me 36!

I wonder how old Les would be by that criteria?????

I'm all for cutting up the car and putting in the rollbar now Karl. Small problem. Good luck getting anyone around here to do it. Chris Schimmel won't. I've tried for well over a year. I did convince him to at least weld the mounting plates in for me. He didn't like the bar I picked and suggested the Autopower. Great bar if you don't mind not being able to see a thing out the back window...

I've found another one that will work. Also found a custom shop like Schimmels up in VA. A couple of guys have had them make custom roll bars to meet SCCA spec for the FRC and coupe. I'll talk to you about it this weekend Bernie if you're interested. I'm calling them soon to get a price based on ones they already built.

Btw, I'll give you a call tomorrow sometime. I'm still down in Savannah. Looks like we can't just park in North paddock at 5pm like I was planning. There is an enduro going on and we have to go down to South paddock until they let us in. There is a South paddock parking pass for Chin on their website. You need to print it out and bring it with you. I guess we're doing tech and registration at South paddock.

He just might edge you out Walter. 1 7/8" Kooks LTs into 3" exhaust into B&Bs. That should be deafening even with cats on it. I sure hope it isn't catless to boot. I can't wait to see if that car doesn't resonate so bad Bernie's fillings all fall out on the way home

The thought of cutting up the car makes me cringe. This thing is like brand new. Its almost too good to be true. Scary fast and in pristine condition, the other owner said he had it on the track five or six times and the only chip I saw was done by a coal truck on the high way seven days ago. I'm going to rent Adam Breakey's mazda slowtege for the Chin event till I get this car sorted out. But I'll still bring the traq mate so Graham can record some of his laps.

My diagonal tube sort of blocks a portion of my vision out the back which has forced me to use the side mirrors very often. I now find that on track I hardly use the inside mirror at all.

Besides, if you can drive a 400 HP Vette right why worry about what's behind you? :P

and if not it will quickly be evident who is behind you as you will be facing them.

i would not want to depend on exterior mirrors only. i kind of enjoy the panoramic veiw out the back.
