You couldn't convince my neighbors of that

I bet their water bill is twice mine with all the grass watering they do. Sad thing is mine looks almost as good as theirs.

We can't water at all in Mecklenburg Co. in Charlotte. My lawn, well, sucks. - AB

Its going to get worse before it gets better. It still has not sunk in with most people. The same folks cheating on the watering rules will be crying loudest when we have to start paying big bucks for shipping water from other systems, boiling it or whatever more extreme measures that may come.

I am curious as to exactly what is the worst case scenario and what will happen leading up to that point. I know that it is unlikely that we will run out, but what if we do. I assume they have to leave some reserve for things like fire fighting, hospitals, etc.

So we are roughly 90 days out here in the triangle from running out. If nothing changes (rain wise), how will it play out 30, 60 and 90 days from today?

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Cary & Apex which pull from Jordan Lake are in decent shape (200 days or so) until/if Raleigh other area cities start to purchase water from them.

Durham has 70ish days and Raleigh has 90ish days of normal water supply. At that point they have only the dirty lake bed water that has to be treated more stringently. I do not know what the issues this will cause....poor taste? strong chlorine odor? Or how long before the pumps start sucking air...or silt?
