Well I noticed that the 328 inspection sticker went out of date last month, so it's time to get the NC inspection. I'm tired of the little place I go to on 401, always looking for something.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a state inspection station that is "kind" to modded cars? PM me if you would like. Also looking for some place I can drive up to and get it inspect as opposed to leaving it "for an appointment".

Thanks all...

I go to the inspection station on Chatham in cary. It is drive up, but I don't know how friendly to modded cars. The Miata still passes

Define "modded". If your OBD-II ECU isn't showing a code, they don't care. The Crossroads Ford guys didn't bat an eye at the Contour last year and didn't even do the tint check. In and out.

Quail Corners Texaco. Just call that morning and see if they can fit you in. The kid who does the inspections is a car guy and loves seeing fun cars. I took three cars in three days and I think that my total time there was less than 15 minutes.

It's at the corner of Millbrook and Falls of the Neuse.

Plus you can stop in at All Star Bike and visit Ash Nelson!!!!

I've taken all mine to the quick lube at 540 and Leesville for the last couple years. DO make sure all your license plate bulbs are live, and you have new wipers - other than that no issues. So long as your OBDII doesn't complain, either do they.

Oh, and it never hurts to show up 20 minutes before closing time either - they REALLY don't want to take their time then.

Another nod for that place. I've never waited more than 10 minutes, and they have missed a few things that other places have called me on. Mostly headlight adjustments and marginal windshield wipers. But they did call me once on worn tires and once on windshield tint.

Regardin modified cars -- they never once mentioned anything about mine.

I go on the one on Kildaire Farm close to Cary Parkway beside the gas station since we move down here 9 years ago. They do inspection only and I usually doesn't have to wait more than 10 min. But I try to go in the middle of the month when it's usually more quiet. Last year they let the Porsche pass with a horn that should have probably fail. Anyhow it was the last year I had to have it inspected she's 35 year old now so no inspection necessary anymore.

+1. I usually go there on my lunch break and get in and out quick enough to still get lunch.
