OK, I'm back. Apart from a missing Valentine 1 (no surprise there), the laid back seating position (which I'd tweaked desperately...) and the fact that he smoked in it  it's fine.

Ryan, David - I'm actually glad I left the keys in it. Here's why. What would this punk have done had he not found them? Tried to jimmy the ignition? Cut the top? Keyed it? Started cutting wiring stuff? Who knows. I don't want to know.

My department is coming over to move the spare fridge out of my garage and into the lab on Friday, both to help the lab, and let me put the car in the garage.

Thanks for everyone's support during this ordeal.

Let me guess. A 40 of King Cobra, and um, an empty 40 of King Cobra.

Breakfast of champions!

Glad the car wasn't too abused in your absence.

Karl,

first off, I'm glad the car came back relatively unscathed, sounds like you got lucky.

I'd bet it was a crime of opportunity- if the car had been locked without keys left inside- I'll bet they would have just moved along to easier pickings.

BTW- this thread makes me wonder aloud- how much is a LoJack system???? How cool would it have been to have LoJack on that car, allowing the cops to hunt them down and bust the hell out of them!!!

EDIT:

http://carguides.net/lojack_cost.htm

Looks like $700-800 for the "Lojack Stolen Vehicle recovery system"....Not bad since it's a one time deal. I think if my car was in the top 50 list of cars stolen, I would do it....

Glad you have the car back.

Any idea what the ultimate fallout will be? Will something like this eventually show up on a Carfax report when you go to sell the car?

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Karl,

Sell it! You are way ahead of the game at this point... Of course, wait until Monday to put it up for sale. I want a co-drive in it this weekend :)

Great news Karl! It's nice to get lucky now and then. Nice to have you back and in full AS condition.

That's great news Karl.

Now just stock up on Febreeze and you should be good. The Suby that I bought last year came from a smoker and after a couple of bottles and about a week, the smell is gone and hasn't returned.

2 questions:

- What was the next car you decided on?
- What is your address?
