Back to work this week (yeah, I still call it work), and it pretty much sucks. I was getting a ton of work done in the garage for the past few weeks. I could have used a few more days to rebuild a set of carbs (take apart, bead blast, reassemble).

Scott,

I would feel sorry for you but after getting "downsized, restructured, etc." after 29 years as a product safety engineer and manager from UL I now have much more time than money. :D

Anybody have an ideas for a new career for an electrical and industrial engineer and former electronic technician who has lots of mechanical and automotive "do it myself" experience?

Dropping back in salary is OK (realistically there is not much market for former product safety engineering managers at management salary levels) so "engineering entry level" is fine.

Isn't it interesting how the downsize-ees are always the senior staff? The ones who know everything but also happen to have to most expensive compensation/benefits packages... :x

Good luck on your search Dick, sorry to hear the news. I don't know of anything, unfortunately.
