Is that why you looked all shaken up after day one when you were getting creamed for the first time in a long while? I mean we've all been there and I'm not making fun of you, but you don't get all shook up when it doesn't mean something.
It's okay...it's racing and you're not used to getting your ass handed to you. But don't try to tell anyone it "didn't matter." I think everyone knows you're way to competitive for that!

It's okay, I'm not as sensitive as the goldsmith. Nice try, though.
Actually, I went to the event Aaron linked with zero expectations other than just to see what it was like. The way I felt after the first day had nothing to do with the way I was driving, it had everything to do with the fact that it was 200 degrees below zero, windy and raining HARD the entire effing day. That's my least favorite type of weather. That pretty much made the decision for me about ever driving that far to stand around in the freezing cold while being soaked with water for hours at a time. The driving part was pretty fun, with the drag race start and all, but not worth going back for at this time. Maybe I'll change my mind someday.
And I actually didn't feel too bad about how my times compared to the other guys after the first day, having a car that was way underprepared & never having done one of those events before. I think I was in 4th or 5th. I was beating Andy Hollis after the first day, and that ain't too bad, even if I did have AWD and it was raining.

Second day, I coned one side & the course had dried off, so too bad - stuff happens. But seeing some of the things that Corey and the other guys' RSes were doing (that mine refused to do) made me realize it was time to actually set the suspension up how Hoppe kept telling me to. Made a big difference. You don't really realize how crappy your car is until you see somebody with one that's set up "right" and see the things he can do with it. Definitely eye-opening, and worth the trip at the time just for that.
I've been thinking lately about starting to autox again next year with the 99 RS, probably in STS. The other RSes were pretty fun with the STS setup, but having the STi kindof killed that - with all the 300hp/DCCD drifting and stuff.

Now that I haven't had the STi for a while, and after playing around with the 99 on the setup day last Friday, I'm thinking I'd like to try it out again. If I do, I'll just have to get over the cost in tires and time spent standing around waiting, compared to rallyx.
