A co-worker recently damaged the plastic/polyurethane bumper on her GS400. She got a quote from a body shop, but they want to replace the entire bumper cap. Has anyone worked with a local shop that does plastic bumper repair?

TIA

Colors on Parade http://www.autopaintinaday.com - Capital Blvd. Ask for Lloyd Lind: 919-862-8988. They repaired my bumper without removing it or replacing it. Excellent work.

$400 - Kevin suggested I use Duct Tape but I love my WRX too much.

We just had a similar incident happen on our 2000 Passat. Drivers side rear bumper corner tapped in a parking lot, small tear in the bumper and bent bumper hangers up to the rear wheel well. I posted to the former forum (via unc servers) and received several replies back recommending Colors on Parade and also Kenny Hawkins Automotive.

I opted for Colors on Parade. The work has not been completed yet, but he quoted $450 to repair the bumper with the stipulation that price may change if additional damage is found under bumper skin. Comparatively, VW dealer affiliated body shop off wake forest road quoted $1000 which included bumper replacement.

Also, off the record, the only reason I haven't moved forward with the repair yet is I am waiting to schedule the work so it coincides with the next autocross event. It just so happens I will have a rental car paid for by somebody elses insurance, to me that screams autocross.
