My friend Mike Blankenship told me this story he heard from a customer at the Precision Tune that Mike ran.
The customer had a Dodge D50 pick up that looked very good but had a new motor in it. The guy towed it behind his motorhome. On one trip he was yelling at the kids as he hooked up the D50. He set off up the ramp on the Interstate but noticed the motor home was kind of slugish. Once it got to about 55 mph the extra drag abruptly stopped.
No it was not the parking brake. He had left the truck in 1st gear and it threw the rods through the side of the block and out the oil pan. The valves had also been intimate with the pistons.
I was over at Greenville Toyota a few months ago and they had a brand new toyota Corolla that did the same. they had to replace everything under the hood because the metal fragments had gotten in everything. You never have seen such a mess.
Oh, ryan. We will be reviewing your insurance soon!!
