I've been sorting out my latest ride, a '98 528, that had a few minor mechanical problems. Now that those small items are done, I'm looking to take care of the crappy paint. It looks like it was ran though every mechaical car wash ever made. It has lots of swirls and some deep scratches.

In looking at various forums, it seems I need to order some polishing pads for my random orbital buffer. I think for now I'll stay away from a porter cable buffer. I've looked in the phone book, but not much luck for pads. Where in Raleigh can you buy car detailing products? I've checked the standard auto parts stores and no luck in pads or such, but plenty of chemicals. Anyone know where you can buy these type of products? I've heard of majestic solutions, any feedback on them?

thanks....

I'm happy with my Craftsman orbital buffer. The spare stuff is available at Sears for both small and large orbital buffers and should fit "good enough" as a generic application. As an aside, the Porter Cable is overkill (for me) but I've seen the results and they are fantastic.

I multistepped the Miata this past weekend*, and was amazed at the results that Meguiar's Cleaner Wax provided. The bigger swirl marks have been lessened, but it doesn't look like a 12 year old 120K mile car anymore.

*Brasso removal of cone marks, wash, clay bar, wash, Meguiar's Cleaner Wax apply and remove, Meguiar's Gold Class Wax apply remove buff.

As much as I hate Pep boys, the one on 70(Garner) has wool, terry cloth, foam, and the synthetic(Looks like a duster cloth) in several sizes.

I wiped off the Scirocco with an old T-shirt. :)

Did you even bother spitting on the shirt to lube it up?

That Gold Class paste wax is really nice. I compounded my 'lude and then waxed her with the Gold Class paste this weekend. Of course, I am an idiot and forgot that I got not one, but two orbital buffers for Christmas, until I was down to one panel...D'oh! I guess I'm just not used to having the option!

That Gold Class smells nice too.

Rodney,

I have had great success with a variety of products from Majestic Solutions. They are off of Corporation Parkway which is right off of New Bern Avenue. If you can take the car with you, do so and it will help them better recommend which products to use.

If you are refering to the 2 cars that AAE had, neither one of those. Found a very low mileage one in Apex, montreal blue....interesting color. Thanks for ref to majestic. I'll go over today at lunch and see what they have to offer.

Thanks Steve...

LOL....

this car is a pig when it comes to driving it hard. Had an opportunity to run it through it's paces at the street survival. Although I was able to rotate the rear end around with some left foot braking and throttle on the skid pad, it has more lean to it than my old cutlass, so no, 528 stays home.... 328 comes out to play with you guys

the sad thing is, you'd probably still beat me :(

I have been very happy with every product that I have used from Majestic Soluions. With the glass company I used Enviro clean quit a bit to remove years of water spotting from glass. The only down side is that they will not take a check.
