Trying to do the capture of the video from the last OCS event, I accidentally plugged the PC end of my Firewire cable in backwards! Unfortunately when that happens, the electronics gets fried, and the cost of repair is going to be nearly equal the cost of a new camera. :( If I do get a new cam, it'll be a newer, MiniDV unit. But that leaves me with a tape full of footage I need to capture.

So does anyone have a Sony Digital8 cam I can borrow to do the capture? Should only need it one day. I promise not to fry your Firewire!

Carl - I am pretty sure my camcorder is an older Sony Digital8 w/ firewire. I can check later to be sure. It uses a standard size "digital" 8mm tape, correct? You can keep it for more than a few days, I rarely use it.

If it's convenient for you, you can drop by on your way home and pick it up. I should be home early today, any time after 3pm. Call if you'd like.

I have a Hi8 camera, but in order to download I have to run it through my mini DV camera via rca jacks. Not difficult, just different. Let me know if you need it.

8) Glad you got it all worked out, sorry to hear about the firewire and the fried electrics. I'll definately make sure to not make that mistake myself, yikes!
