TM has been growing at a very steady 5% sales, 8% earnings for the last 3 years. It's P:E range has been between 9-15. When P:E > growth rate the stock isn't cheap. Currently PE is 18 which is higher than the historical S&P average of 17 and is near its 5-year valuation max, which means TM is overvalued. A conservative 5-year target price is $140 at the PE of 15. TM is now at $132 so that ain't a great anticipated ROI.

There are definitely better stock choices out there for a 5+ year investment horizon. Don't buy high.

I fell asleep before I finished that one. Toyota is making some boring cars these days.

8 seconds!!! What will I do with this rocket?!?!?!

I bet that thing would make an STX killer car. Put in an LSD and some Advans and it would clean up. In STX trim, you should be able to get it to about 2000 #, yet it would be more powerful than the '89-91 Civic Si and able to handle more tire. - AB

Yup, and that's what they want you to think. When it comes to luxury, they want you to think Lexus. When it comes to smaller, fun cars, they want you to think Scion. Maybe that's why they outsell every other car company on the planet ;) - AB

Good point. I didn't know Scion was part of Toyota. I saw that square box looking SUV wannabe thing they made and haven't looked at Scion since. The best Toyota I have seen so far is the 2000 Solara in Silver. Next runner up is your Silver GT-S. There are a couple of Lexus cars that I like. Toyota just isn't my cup of tea.

Maybe GM can stay in business selling nitch market cars like the Z06!

Buy all the stock you want. I don't agree on it as a good long term investment. Unless you bought tons of it many, many years ago.

GM isn't going anywhere. And even if it did they already made enough Corvettes to last me the rest of my life. I still need 5 more for my collection

FYI. I'm probably going to drive another rice burner to commute to work with. Not because I like imports. The last one I had was an early 80s Mitsu. But because I'm cheap first, and getting it almost free. It's an 89 Camry/Corolla. It was so boring I can't remember which one it is. And I don't care. Ill run it until it dies and scrap it.

Back to the original point. That car pictured above is still fugly... I'm sure there are bunches of little teenage ricers boys running around with wouldies when they saw that car.
