Thought I'd remind everybody that the Rolex 24 at Daytona is only a little over a week away.

Since it's about the only big race this time of year, it attracts a diverse group of drivers, including Champ Car, IRL, and Nascar drivers in addition to the usual sports car racing suspects. The 4-day super ticket is still $80, and gives you access to the grandstands, infield and garages Thursday-Sunday. Ticket office phone is 1-800-PIT-SHOP, or you can buy online at

Our own Jean Wilkins (most recently on the staff at VIR, but before that a THSCC track and autocross junkie) has been with Howard Motorsports
http://www.howardbossmotorsports.com/ for a year now and will be working the race. She told me Sunday about their effort to convert one of their Crawford chassis from Pontiac to Porsche power for Rob Dyson. The Andy Wallace/Butch Leitzinger/Tony Stewart car will retain Pontiac power.
Last year Mark Odell drove in the Friday Grand Am Cup race (now Koni Challlenge). Mark has a bigger project going this year, but Bernie will be glad to know that Dr. McDreamy from Gray's Anatomy is entered in a Mustang in the Koni Challenge race. Old foks who worked the SVT autocross at VIR in 2002 will remember the SVT engineer assigned to us, Dean Martin. He's driving a Mustang for Rehagen Racing in the Koni Challenge as well.
If nothing else, go check the list of drivers on the Grand Am site. If you decide you want to go, PM me for lodging suggestions.
