They are running a special - $75 for 10 races for members (join for $15 at the track) on December 23rd.

$7.50 a session sounds like a great deal to me.

Any interest?

Best,

10 sessions in one day? I don't think I'd be able to lift my arms for a week afterward. :D I'd be potentially be interested if I didn't have family coming in that day. :-(

I _think_ that with most of these karting places is that the races stay on your account if you don't use them (i.e. you wuss out after 4-5 races).

Given that most folks are doing family stuff that day, I guess that's why they are running the promotion...

Way back when Victory Lane had first opened, they once had a deal where you could drive all you want during a certain time (get in, get out, get back in line). I did 2 hours of back to back sessions and was fine afterwards but that was 4-5 years ago. ;)

Here is to hoping that all the running and weight-lifting compensating for the extra miles on my odometer. According to an infamous kart driver, I should be doing "girly" exercises instead. :)

Best,

That's an awesome deal. A little off topic, but does anyone know what the owner(s) drive because there's one of those new Charger SRT's on my street with a Rush Hour front plate.

My wife and I really need to get to know our neighbors, especially ones that might own indoor karting facilities. :D

I have only been once, but I seem to remember talking to one of the owners about their brand new Charger while we were there. This was back in the spring.

Not sure what he drives currently, but the owners name is Adam Saad. He's a relative of the owners of Garner TV and Appliance as well as SunnySide Too Oyster bar, both in Garner.

He's also a really nice guy......

He is a great guy, but he built that facility in a really dumb location...something just on the other side of Raleigh would have been much better, I think.

Not sure what you mean by "just on the other side of Raleigh"......It's very convenient for me, and I think the location just off I40 was a big factor in where they chose to build it.

I'm sure there are lots of folks who would like it to be in a different location- and I'm also sure they (the owners of RH) thought alot about the location and built it where they could, based on many different factors.

Frankie's Fun Park is a bit closer to you....... :)

It just seems to me that the RTP area would have been a much larger draw of people than the Garner area. It's very difficult for folks across Raleigh to get there during a lot of times during the day, and people from the Burlington area certainly weren't going to go all the way down there. Of course, that became less of an issue once the track in Greensboro was built, but I doubt he knew that was coming when he built his place, either.

The strange thing is that while I consider myself in the Triangle, I'll go to the Greensboro track before I consider RH. It's roughly the same distance, but I have a much lower chance of getting stuck in traffic going to G-town.

Donnie,

I agree that somewhere in the Morrisville/RTP/Cary area might have put them closer to more folks, I'd be willing to bet that the cost of property in that area compared to where they built pretty much made the decision for them.

I've lost track of how much money I have spent on the slick track at Frankie's. I don't want to even try and think about just how much.

I would be interested. What time were you planning to be there.

I guess I find the fact that they built there own place a questionable business decision, too. Warehouse space is dirt dang cheap compared to what he built for himself. But what do I know...I only ran a bunch of numbers and *considered* opening an indoor kart track in the area. He's actually doing it. :)

The only other two dedicated karting facilities I know of are in Indianapolis and St. Louis, and both are obvoiusly MUCH bigger markets than, err, Garner. I've personally been to four other indoor facilities (both G-Force locations, Charlotte, and Greensboro) and all of those are in warehouses. I know what rent on those kinds of places costs, I know what it costs to build a place like RH, I know to the penny what it costs for those karts, the timing system, the plastic for the track walls, the stained concrete in the lobby/restaurant, the video games, etc. Something just doesn't add up in his plan. I doubt he's bleeding money, but I'm having a tough time imagining a scenario where he's making any.

Nah, not THAT bad but probably enough to have paid someone else to have done at least one or two repair jobs on my car. I'm pretty sure I've been there more than 10 times and we usually run 4 races each time...
