DSL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now we can go look at all those videos and photos that people have posted over the years that we just ignored because it would've taken 3 days to be able to view them.

We've waited about 3 weeks because there were issues.

Kevin,
I've had DSL with Bellsouth for a few years now. I have no complaints about the performance or the service. I upgraded to their Extreme DSL with fixed IP address for a few bucks more earlier this year. Do make sure you put all the line filters in to every phone jack. Other than that just plug in and go surfing. Have fun.

Christine,
Since you guys are now getting with the technology. Maybe you can spring for a good stopwatch so Kevin can do accurate STi vs Evo tests.

What the hell is wrong with

"one scooby-dooby-doo"
"two scooby-dooby-doo"
"three scooby-dooby-doo"
"four scooby-dooby-doo"
"five scooby-dooby-doo"
"six scoob"

I realize it's biased towards Subaru's, but it's still pretty damn good !!!

Not funny. I'm still on dial-up out in the sticks. If DSL or cable was available I'd get it, but it's not. :(

Satellite internet is available too Vincent, I believe its called Direcway. My parents have it. Download is good, upload is slow, and theres a little latency, but its a lot better than dial-up.

I think that's the one I checked into. Start-up with equipment purchase was about $400, the $100/month. Pretty steep. I guess I'll just have to wait. :(

shees, didn't know how much my parents were paying for broadband, OUCH

then again, with the kind of work my dad does, he NEEDS broadband, and I think work pays for it, and he's unwilling to move. So you just need to somehow justify it as a work expense ;)

Vincent, I feel your pain. No DSL or cable where I live, either. I consider satellite sufficiently sucky for what I need (don't like the latency or the cost), so a while back I got a T1. It was more a business need than a personal one, though, and the cost is still nutty (several hundred a month depending on what you get and how you use it).

The really sad thing is 1.5Mbs up and down used to kick the shit out of DSL or cablemodem. Now it seems you can easily beat that on the down side, anyway, and most people don't care about the up (I do, as I have a server that people outside of here are getting stuff from).

I swear I saw a bylaw once that said if you lose a presidential election and are NOT named "John Sheally's Hair" you are banned from running again for at least five years. I know I saw that somewhere...

Anyone here actually using Clearwire yet? I'm thinking of switching from Road Runner and saving a few bucks a month...
