VIR schedule shows this past weekend was a club member day. It could have been in the Touring Light (HPDE-ish) group or the "Race" group. I dunno how those member days are run but I would imagine they are a lot less structured than a traditional HPDE...

I haven't been to one (yet, would have but someone blew my motor instead...), but my understanding is that it is just three groups. One is pace-car led lapping, one is faster but more like street cars (touring lites), and the other is higher speed folks (apparently mostly dominated by some fairly fast former competition cars that folks just do these member days with). The only "structure" is that the day is on a schedule and you do have to have stuff teched by their folks before you go out. And pay a lot in member dues, of course.

It was a member track day. They run 4 groups touring lights(behind pace car no passing),sports racers/open wheel, touring and high speed.
The BMW was in touring and would have been flat out when the deer jumped in front of him.

I had a guy that is a member up there invite me to come up and run one of the member days. He was trying to sell me POC Porsche 924 (yes 24) so I kind of discounted what he said. Does anybody know if you can run as a guest?

Yes you can.

I get invites from Flow since I got my MINI there. $75/$150 for the day I think.

Maybe an ITR in DS.

Crap, I have bought two mini's from Virginia Beach. I called flow when I bought my first one and asked what they could do for me and they were rather snotty but if they would have told me this I would have bought from them.

Yeah. I almost went to Charleston or as far as Pittsburgh since they'd deliver.

I really want to hit a couple of HPDEs next year and at least two lapping days at VIR.

Read all the rules about the member days (and someone report back what they currently are). I think they have an application online.

Reason I mention is that last time I read them, guests are only eligible for touring lights (group lead by a pace car).

Yeah, its Touring Lights with a pace car, No Helmet IIRC. I've been up there as a guest with Flow after I bought my MINI.
