As Mike pointed out, after riding with him at the last rallycross, I have been on a quest to find a Subaru OBS to use as a daily driver/kid transport/rallycross car. Well, I bought one. It isn't perfect. There are a few dents, a couple of burn holes in the seats, a crack in the windshield (I'll have to call Windshield SOS again!!) and a minor oil leak (that leaks on the exhaust), but those are things I can fix. Plus, for $2000, what do you expect?!? It is going to need a little TLC before I beat it up, but you can expect to see it at a rallycross soon.

It can't come out to play quite yet! We have to fix a few issues before we take it out and tear it up, ummm, I mean rally cross.

It really does drive great. I did notice a few questionable (brief) sounds when I was driving it home last night, but nothing too major (I hope.)

Ryan beat me to it. :P

Let us know if you need any help with anything, or have any questions.

PS - "beating up" is the exact opposite of "being fast" - so don't do that.

Todd,

You'll really enjoy the car in inclimate weather. It comes with an automatic login at NASIOC you know. Have fun :D

Speaking of hacking it up, I got to do some lapping at VIR on south course today in the STi and it went from damp in the morning to full on wet during the day. Aside from boiling the brakes, the car was so damned much fun I couldn't believe it. The diffs in the 05+ are just amazing. You need to be sure you don't overcook to the point you pick up a push on corner entry, but as long as you don't do that, you're absolutely golden. You can almost do no wrong. If there's a "WAY TOO MUCH" gas on corner exit, I couldn't find it. There could be a "way too much WAY TOO EARLY", but that'll just cause the push. Get to mid-corner and roll on hard and the rear steps out a good bit. You then just feel it send power to the front and it just RIPS you out of the corner right where you were looking.

Amazing stuff. Strano bar, OEM struts (Ohlins on the way), Ti cat-back, and OEM RE070's with 3k or so miles. I haven't played with different street tires much, but the general consensus is there are much better wet tires than the RE070. If so, WOW. I mean with active light rain and completely soaked conditions I still boiled the brakes with them. Oh, I do Carbotech Panther Plus pads on there. Probably time for higher quality fluid or something.

Sorry to thread hijack. Todd, your rallycross car looks purrrrrrrrrrfect for that. Well, it will once it is yellow. :)
