Surely that isn't the first time you've seen that?!? There's a company, I believe in Georgia, that sells a kit to put VTEC's in original Minis. It's an entire front clip, really. They've advertised in GRM for a while...

What class would a VTEC Mini autocross in? I'd guess it would have to go to at least EM or something, which is a shame. Would probably be pretty fun.

Now, that middle car they have on their For Sale page is HOT. I need to stop looking at that. Seriously.

This is very expensive, but I think Tracy Ramsey and Lloyd Wilson would pee themselves if this showed up with one of us driving it:

You'd probably have to weld in some X braces and subframe connectors, but it would be fast.

That looks like fun. Speaking of minis. I've got a friend building up a 180hp Hayabusa powered mini right now. Hopefully I'll get him out to some tarheel events when it's ready sometime next year.

Here's a link to the vendor.

By the looks of it, that is a 1.6L D16y8 Honda Motor as found in the 96-00 Civic's. Decently worked over ~125-130 NA HP.

If I went to all that effort, I would have put something a bit more strong in there.

Now a Integra Type R engine in a Mini would be interesting. - AB

Smart with a GSXR motor mounted where the passenger seat used to be. (There is a bad word in the opening montage :) )

One of the cars featured in this months GRM is a tube framed, mid engined, Honda powered Mini. Another is a early Corolla with a Lexus V-8.

Although, I'm a little concerned about the Great White style sound-deadening material there on the firewall
