Lotus today announced its 2007 Exige S coupe will be offered in the U.S. market, despite previous claims to the contrary. The British automaker calls the car the "quickest Lotus production car" ever made. It weighs just 935 kg (2057 lbs) and is powered by a 218 horsepower high-revving supercharged engine, giving a zero to 100 km/h time of just 4.3 seconds (0 – 60 mph in 4.1 seconds). Fuel economy is expected somewhere between 25 and 30 mpg. The 148 mph car will be available for $56,990.
