Well, he just made it official. He is retiring as of the end of this year. Should be interesting to see what happens at Ferrari next year. Word is that Jean Todt and maybe Ross Braun are leaving also. That should effectively kill Ferrari for a year or two.

I can't say I am really surprised but in a way I am. I was hoping he would stick around another year or so but there is no better way to retire than leaving while your still at the top of your game. I saw the press conference as well. I don't think I have ever seen Michael that emotional.

I know. He actually got chocked up a little. Very un-Michael like.

That's a nice spoiler tag, Todd, for those of us that DVRed the race.

Oops. Sorry guys. I guess that not everyone is stupid enough to get up at the butt crack of dawn to watch a race.

No they are just lazy. It isn't that early in the morning to get up but I guess, I am used to getting up early to feed and let out my dog. Let them complain, its not like we spoiled what happened in the race, with 10 laps to go.

Good job, Keith! Let him wait and see! Bernie and I went down to Florence to the SCR AX. We actually stayed over Saturday night so we could relax and watch F1 before heading home. Good race! I hate to see "my guy" retire, but better that he does (hopfully) with 8 Championships!

Pre race for China starts at 1:30 AM and racing at 2:00 AM. Who's with me on staying up REAL late to watch that one!!!!!!!

Maybe they'll treat you better over at cornercarvers. Its not like that hasn't been expected in the news for the past two weeks. Michael has a couple more championships in him, but I'm sure personal life has something to do with it. Looks like the field may be leveling even more next season.

It has been discussed that a decision would be made, yes this is true. However, common intarweb courtesy dictates that one doesn't announce potential spoilers in thread titles.

 I guess that since the race was done, and us being race fans, that most probably had watched the race live.

For my punishment, I'll go sit in the corner......and have......a beerImage

Gee Keith, I'll tell Sally's dead grandfather that he's an ass for making us go to a funeral and thus watching the DVR of the race

Well I am sorry for your loss but it was a JOKE what I said about the race. I agree with Todd and I am the one getting flamed. We all have our reasons to not be able to watch a race sometimes. Sorry to be blunt but take it easy. Once again I am sorry for your loss.

Everyone is so sensitive on this forum today. I guess the news of Michael's retirement has everyone swelling with emotion.
