This is a huge loss to the Z and Racing community.

Details can be found here:

It is a shame. But are Peter Brock, apparently from down under, and Pete Brock of Cobra Coupe and BRE (Datsun) racing fame the same person?

I'm still not convinced they are the same person. Please compare the following two web sites that show very little in common (especially the BRE site that lists him as living in Seattle):

Also, the car in the wreck appears to be a Factory Five type of Daytona Coupe kit car as well as the article on his death states that it was "a type of kit car".

Apparently there are two different Peter (Pete) Brocks.

OK,
It appears I jumped too soon. The Driver who died was Peter Geoffrey Brock of Holden Racing fame, not Pete Brock of BRE fame.

It is still a loss to the Racing community.

Crikey, I'd be shaking in my boots if I were Crocodile Dundee, deaths coming in threes and all.

This link is a pic to the crash aftermath, don't click it if you don't want to. Nothing other than a blue tarp, but if this was RHD, there's no doubt as to what caused the death. Link

The "Down Under" Peter Brock was a multi (9 time?) Bathurst winner, and multiple Australian Touring Car champion. Basically, Australia just lost their Dale Earnhardt.

No disrespect intended to Dale, but I'd say Peter Brock was their Richard Petty rather than their Earnhardt.
