Apparently you guys are here more to puff up your own egos than to actually dicuss/learn anything. . .

And apparently you are here to start flame wars. What's your point?

My fiendly suggestions...

A. You are generalizing. I suspect you have only a few people (cough Wes cough) that you have issues with. It seems to be a slow week, so the regular forum gladiators seem to be out at the moment while everyone else is just watching.

B. Ignore those you have an issue with, or learn how to discuss something with them without getting bent out of shape. Recognize their online style/persona and try to not take it personally.

C. Realize that while these same people tend to get under your skin, you do the same to them. This generates an absolutely perfect feedback loop!

Sweet, I'm a jackass. w00t.

Brice, if you want to have a technological discussion, bring some tech instead of an attitude. Moseley stated in his press conference that the unit will be limited to 20 kg. You can read more about it here: http://www.formula1.com/news/4475.html This means, simply, that 44 lbs can be removed from other parts of the car and this sort of things make real engineers' pants get tight right below the belt buckle.

Read that link and if you want to come back and have a real discussion about tech instead of speculating about things THAT ARE IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN.

On an aside, what's the real problem: we're (THSCC minus you) a bunch of assholes that don't get it or vice versa?

Back on topic...

I dont' see this happening in F1. If F1 is going to go "green" it is going to be much slower. They are all about rule stability (or trying to do this), cost reduction and trying to make it a more enjoyable thing to watch these days. So regenerative systems is probably not on many of the players wish list. I just don't see them being the ones to break ground in this area.

I think you may see it more in other series. Such as the Audi diesel. Does Le Mans still score on some type of efficency index like they used to do years ago? How about more smaller displacement racing? Porsche years ago used to rule the 2L and under classes.

Now if we could just incorporate that energy into the (flux) capacitor we could keep those batteries recharged easily. that F1 car would have no problem running for an hour or so flat out...

Wow, I'm mentioned in the same breath as Wes and Donnie. I'm flattered.

If you recall, Brice, I quite strongly supported you (but not your idea) back when you proposed the wheel. I kept an open mind and considered the limitations of this medium in terms of conveying true attitude and meaning, and gave you considerably more than the benefit of the doubt through several threads. You had to work really hard through your posts here to undermine that, but I'm kind of glad there is no ambiguity now. I can carry a lack of respect with a clear conscience. :)

Back on topic:

As for diesels, not only have they done successfully in endurance racing, but also pretty nicely in top speed:

I also remember back in the fuel limitation years of F1 (horrible as they were, remember Mansell pushing his car across the finish in protest?), someone pointing out that one plane to fly a team out to the Australian GP used more fuel than the entire F1 season. Greening the cars is misplaced hypocricy, particularly in the newly current European attitude that air traffic is the major contributor to pollution and fuel use.

wow, it seems that several of my threads have become heated.

Anyone want to here about the new Acura TL Type -s?

BTW,
as far as good technical descussions, several of us have put forth information about the technology, how it can be applied, and where things stand without any personal insults.

wow...i can't believe you just called martyn wheeler a jackass...this is the guy that permanently has a smile on his face and is nice to everyone...i think if you kicked martyn in the the crotch, he's appoligize for getting the way of your foot.

don't be so sensitive...you and wes exchanged some jabs sure, but come on...i don't think it warranted the flamage...personally i think pretty much every post you make is looking for a fight in one form or another.

Ok, I have received a number of PMs about this thread. I really don't like to lock thread and I really don't like giving people grief about forum policy. So I try to give people leeway and that has been done. No more for this thread. Particularly the personal insults.

That is an interesting point about the fuel used by the teams for away races. The "only" thing I can see that "greening" of F1 "might" do is bring some new technology to regular cars. But if an attempt to green the series doesn't have some benefit other than making us all feel warm and fuzzy, then there is no reason to do it.

You get a freeby George since you posted your comment at the same time as I posted my warning.

It sucks to be the moderator.
