The race last night was cancelled because of a lack of turnout for previous races. I bumped into a couple of drivers at the Advanced Auto in Cary, and they were drumming up support for their program. They were surprised to hear questions about suspension and brakes too. If anybody else is interested in heading up there before the NCAC this coming Friday, throw me a message and we can consider doing some grilling and perhaps a beer or eight.

"lack of turnout" referring to drivers or fans??

I know when I ran out there, we would often have ~30 cars running in the "Pure Stock 4 cyl" class and it was a blast. Alot of the fans commented that it was the best racing out there, mostly due to the number of cars on that small track at one time. I haven't run out there in a couple of years, due to a couple of things- one of which was that it was no longer fun trying to keep up with the front runners as they upped the ante and started building tube-frame race cars with $$$$ engines- in what was supposed to be a "pure stock" class. I ran a stripped out BMW 320i shell that I dragged out of Bowie Gray's driveway after it got flooded- I stuck a ~200k+ junkyard engine in and ran it that way for 2 years before a quick and dirty rebuild. I had more fun at WCS than many other tracks I've been to... :)

If they are lacking fans, I don't know why they are surprised. I rarely see any advertising for WCS, and most of the folks who go to watch seem to be "regulars" who have been going for years, or friends/family of drivers. If you've never gone to watch, it is alot of fun- always some excitement to be seen and heard.

I hope they find the right formula to keep the track open.

Bret.

Attendance figures, sorry. Last night's Jager is affecting how my brain interacts with my fingers. If I were in charge, I'd have the "Sunday Sunday Sunday" commercials on 96 Rock so often that you'd be sick of them.

I grabbed one of their fliers for a race on the 18th.
