Need some help

Any one up to comping over to my house sometime soon and help me put some new boots on my Axels on the Del Sol? The CV joint still seem to be fine and several people have told me its ok to just replace to boots if the CV joints are not making any noise, since it seems to be hit and miss with replacement axels.

I was in the same boat recently. Boot torn, CVs fine. I figured I would have fun and just replace the boots. I think you can find boots that are glue together that don't require disassemble of the axel. Don't get those.

Long story short, after tearing apart both axels and while putting on the boots, I realized it is easier and cheaper to buy complete rebuilt axels. My biggest issue with doing it yourself (boot replacement) is that you need a special tool to tighten the clamps on the boot.

raxels comes up as a source for replacement. I ended up going to Autozone or someplace like that locally. I think most are offered with a lifetime warrantee, so keep your receipt.

My Integra was eating axles about every 12-18 months, both sides, on stock suspension. It got to be a real PITA. I went to Raxle's and I am now working on 2 years without a replacement, and the car has been lowered an inch or two. I realize the Autozone/Advanced ones come with a lifetime warranty, but....that doesn't do me much good if I am still having to go through the motions of replacing every 12 months. I think mine ran about $125 a side. No core charge and they even send you a box and packing label to send your old one back in. Good stuff. Marty is a real nice guy too and very helpful if you have any questions.

Fingers crossed my Autozone ones are OK so far. If they explode in a very short period of time, I probably will try out Raxels. I hear good things about them. I was just in a bind the day I needed mine and Autozone had them in stock that day.
