We're still 120 miles from Denver, but so far today we've seen 121F on the truck thermometer (usually fairly accurate) and now it's 66F and hailing and raining like a mother. Lightning is pretty spectacular, too.

Man, cell internet connections are cool, though.

Is that helping you calm down by surfing 'man on man' internet porn? Good luck in CO. That site is the best I have ever seen. - AB

So does 121 with Colorado heat index feel hotter than a NC 98 degree day? Just wondering.

Thursday and Friday last week were absolute hell working outdoors all day...and I like the hot weather.

Strange thing about the Verizon EVDO connection...most of the way across Kansas my cellphone just said "Extended Network" instead of "Verizon Wireless". The whole time it was like that, my EVDO card worked, with the exception that I couldn't do anything that required a form upload. It was driving me batty trying to figure out what went wrong on my end and such. As soon as I got into Colorado and it switched back to Verizon, all was well.

Also, for those that care, I got a Kyocera KR1 router. You plug your EVDO card into it and it spits out wired or wifi internet for multiple machines. You can also use any of a few USB phones that do EVDO and it'll connect though one of those, too. It's really made by D-Link, which I'm not normally impressed with, but this seems pretty well done. I also have the Wilson signal amplifier sold by booster-antenna.com and an external antenna both for the EVDO card, which also seems to be helping a tremendous amount. That said, I also recently upgraded my Sierra Aircard 5220 to the Kyocera KPC650, which supposedly is a great upgrade as far as the radio is concerned. So who knows which of the new toys is helping the most. I just know I've had pretty good service when I've tried it. :)

Matt, I'm not sure, but I believe 121F (in Kansas, not Colorado) would be a pretty good bit worse than 98F at home if you were *in* the sun with it. For one thing you'd have the added difficulty that you wouldn't feel any of your sweat so you wouldn't have your alarm to keep drinking fluid. But at that point it's all semantics as it ALL sucks bad.

Having lived in AZ for a few years, I can tell you that yes, 120+ degrees even with single digit humidity is BRUTALLY HOT! As Donnie mentions, when its really hot and dry like that, your skin stays dry, which leads to any sort of wind or breeze being painfully hot on any exposed skin. This is why those that live in the Saharra cover their skin completely I believe. Now which would I choose, an 98 degree NC day or a 120 AZ day. Thats a tough call, both really really suck...
