anyone ever heard of ITC DeltaCom? they are a commercial oriented service provider. land lines & DSL. they own "fiber" in the south east.

anyway, i have never heard of them and don't know anyone who uses them. they are cheaper than BellSouth, at least at first glance. anyone have horror stories to share regarding switching companies? what if any possible glitches might i encounter? do i run the risk of frequent network crashes by using another DSL provider?

my theory is if it ain't broke don't fix it. (ie. BellSouth) unless the savings and the service are considerable. thanks.

Steve, I negotiate telecom/networking contracts for Wachovia. We have used ITC Deltacom for dark fiber transport for some time. Granted, we are using quite a bit more bandwidth than the home user (;)), but ITC Deltacom is a good company. Good financials and a strong fiber network. I wouldn't hesistate switching, especially considering AT&T acquired BellSouth and will soon make them just as unreliable as AT&T has been the last few years.

You mention that you are currently with Bellsouth. Is this home or business DSL? I don't know for sure, but if are talking about the current Bellsouth copper into your house, you may only be able to go with what they offer (or partner if they are doing that with anyone.)

If it is for business, then you may have more options.

thanks ya'll, they would be providing phone service also, any input there? i don't suppose the phones would be as much of a headache as the DSL. i need to break down the costs a bit further but it looks to be a positive change. appreciate the info. steve

I use Portbridge to provide my DSL at the store. They volume lease bandwidth from Bell South and sell it cheaper than BS. They have been very reliable. I've not had any problems switching providers once past the initial contract period if any.
Are you talking digital webphone service or std copper line phone service?
