The problem is that even though they haven't been made in about 5 years they are still on the top 10 most likely cars to be stolen list. Not a list I want my daily driver to be on. I mean the 2004 DS National Champ had his R stolen from a parking garage where he works very early this year. Plus why run in DS when you can run in ES or FS with a nationally competitive car that can be bought fully prepped for under 10k.

Congrats to GH. Sorry Donnie things didn't work out but it seems the car may be competitive. Are there any plans for a FSB and exhaust?

I agree with what you are saying, but I do daily drive my Type R (it's my only car!). There are some people that would disagree with that, but it's not their car. If mine gets stolen, I will probably buy another one.

Try explaining to the insurance companies that it isn't a very high risk car. So it isn't on the top ten list of most likely to be stolen cars, it is still has one hell of a chance of getting stolen if it isn't locked up in a garage.

NICB seems to be the most quoted that I can see. Apparently National Highway Traffic Safety Administration also publishes a list, but their web site sucks and/or is slow and I can't find it. Another company (CCC) seems to be quoted, but I can't find a list on their site.

From what I have read, you can take these lists with a grain of salt as every published list is different, so how data is gathered and reported is probably pretty different from source to source.

They include the NICB numbers I mentioned above. Look at the CCC Information Services Top 25 list (that is the one that I couldn't find on the CCC web site). It has eight different Integra model years in the top 25.

Right. And another problem with "Top X" lists of auto thefts is that they sometimes don't mention the model year. So let say a 1996 Bombast LX is easy to break into and joyride, a 2006 Bombast might not be so easy to break into. Manufactures then get pissed as people read the lists and don't buy the newer car as they think it is going to be stolen. Or lists filter out older cars and only show past few model years of car (which might be more helpful for new car buyers) but doesn't show the entire picture.

A Mirage? Really? Dang, who is stealing these things?

Are we sure the owners just haven't conveniently forgotten where they put them? Or maybe they were never there in the first place?

You'll never see this in any of the statistics but from my experience the Ricer community has no problems with their car getting stolen and collecting the insurance money. Amazingly in a couple of weeks they have another one with very similiar mods that were on the old cars.

Ain't saying there is a moral issue with those guys that are racing on the public streets for money or anything.

BTW all acuras carry a very high symbol

I have seen a bunch of "theft recovery" Hondas and Acuras at the insurance salvage auctions over the past several years. Most of them are literally shells, no wheels, no interior- if they have an engine, it's usually missing the exhaust and intake. Sometimes even the suspension is completely gone. Looks like either the car was stolen and stripped, OR if it was recovered intact, the owner took all of his mods off before giving the car up to the insurance company.

Those guys is what makes it hard for motorsport enthusiast to get treated fairly by insurance companies. I have only been burned once by those guys and it was one of my best friends son.
