I purchased my 13x8 Rota RB wheels (knockoffs of Panasports which are knockoffs of Minilites) from http://urbanimport.com/xcart/customer/home.php who are located in RTP next to the FedEx Ground facility for ~$500. Reason: They look tits and fit over the 1.8L brakes which the Diamond Racing wheels don't.

I second Mazda Comp for parts, but they call shenanigans (reportedly) if you haven't run any events in the Mazda yet. You need to have two results available for submission.

And hey, bring it. That's why CSP will be exciting this year, otherwise peeps can face the wrath of the 'Tour. :P

We're going to get the 13x8 Rota RB's, Chris Schimmel is selling some with tires in the swap forum but he's already got somebody looking at them. Assuming I get new ones from Urban Imports, anybody got input on what race tires you like?

We're still finalizing the cutch plan, but we're leaning toward stock with a lightened flywheel (Fidanza?).

Is anybody familiar with the R2 Racing RS coilovers? The guys at Urban Imports suggested them when I called about the wheels. It looks like a little overkill, but maybe. If not these, then probably the Koni's and new front sway bar and bushings.

Anybody want to sign on to help Sean and I do the clutch and suspension? We've got a good set of tools and space to work in, but we've never done these and I know a knowledgeable person will help speed up the job and reduce the frustration. I can offer a lounge chair and some beers while you coach and free can of GOJO if you get your hands dirty. Maybe even a weekend in Pinehurst with a round of golf since we're in Pinehurst.

Better move fast on the RB's.. they've been discontinued, and I bought what Urban Imports thought were the 2nd-to-last set they were going to get! They were dirt cheap by the way ($445 total.)

If you don't want to spend the $$$ on an aluminum flywheel, you can have the stock flywheel lightened by ~7.5lbs. I had the one in my old '92 lightened, balanced, and resurfaced for $100 locally.

And for all you CSP folks.. looks like I'll be joining ya'll again this year

I wouldnt fret tooooo much if you couldnt snag the RB's. While they are pimp looking. I think the Circle or Diamond Racing wheels are better for offset reason.

It appears that CSP is gonna be LARGE this year.

You guys are gonna make me buy a 1.8 and a LSD

Okay we've got the following for the Miata. Thanks for the advice.

Stage 1 clutch
Fidanza flywheel

Koni Adjustable Sports
Ground Control Coilovers
Powerflex bushings
Racing beat front sway

13x8 Rota RB's due in next week
Haven't decided on rubber yet any suggestions?

The clutch and flywheel went in last weekend

I've got the HF tool to do the bushings available for borrowing and recently did them if you need suggestions along the way. Hint: you don't need to remove any axles or remove any ball joints.

You'll want to go ahead and buy the upgraded alignment bolts while you're at it. 8x NAY9-28-6AZ.

Are there any websites on the bushing job? I'm clueless on that and just figured I'd work it out in the process. What's an HF tool and yeah if it'll help I'll come up and get it. I've gotta run through Raleigh Saturday (early and eavening). taking my son to ECU for a campus visit.

Never thought to change the bolts. I assume NAPA or CarQuest will have them?

You want links?

Extremely anal NA GC install

For the bushings, search on miata.net for poly bushings and adapt the knowledge to what you should do. For the rear, you don't remove both A-arms per side, you place the axle on a jackstand and remove the appropriate one and crank it through using the Harbor Freight tool. (is that really on sale for twenty bucks?) An air powered impact wrench is a must. For the fronts, you do a similar thing, but you can't do it on the bench, you hold the hub up with the jackstand and pivot the appropriate control arm and crank on it on your lap.

I did all 22 bushings in two days, but I was working alone and hadn't done the job before. I only had to heat up two bushings with a torch, driver's rear lower, and this might be due to driving around and autocrossing on that blown shock for 6 months.

Another hint for the front suspension is that since you're replacing the sway bar is to leave it out until the end so that you can do the "long bolt" shock replacement instead of the lower bolt one. Again, a quick search on miata.net will have a low signal to noise, but you'll find it.

Hit me up on pm if you want to discuss things further, I'll be around this weekend, not even four miles from US-1.

As for the alignment bolts, you can't get them everywhere. Sometime later in the years of Miata building, somebody in Hiroshima figgered out that coarse thread bolts tire and slip and reengineered them with a finer thread and now have two channels instead of one. The fine threads are what you want, and for $40 and peace of mind, they're worth every penny. Stick your head under the car, and you'll see the washer with markings and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Wes, thanks a ton and a half for the loan of the bushing tool, spring compressor, book, and most of all the advice. I would have never been able to get those damn bushings out without your help. Thought I could wing it going in  We've got the back bushings, shocks, an springs done and have one of the fronts just about back in.

By the way, it had the upgraded alignment bolts already so I didn't need to get these.
