Pete,

Folow the link in Emmie's post to a petition that has already been started.

There is strength in numbers my friend.

i hope that we are able to restore rallying to speed channel, if nascar completely takes over, they will lose people b/c the things that make it a diverse channel will fade away, and only a few folks will stay, diversify or die, speed channel, diversify or you will lose viewers

I disagree. NASCAR, no matter what we think, is the most popular form of racing right now. And with numbers comes money. NASCAR talked about making the NASCAR channel for several years before buying Speedvision.

I too hate seeing the demise of my favorite TV channel. They have essentially eliminated all live motorcycle racing, now rally, they have contract issues with F1 every year, so it's only a matter of time until that's gone. But from a business standpoint, it is hard to fault the execs for putting more NASCAR content on.

Yeah what he said. Money talks! And Nascrap is a big money machine. The execs at Speed are doing what they have to do to be profitable. Showing SCCA Runoffs, WRC, Moto GP, aren't big money makers for them.

But you would think they could afford a little diversity without it breaking into their revenue stream. Let them put it on at 11pm or 1am. We all have recorders. Wouldn't bother me to record tonight and watch tomorrow. That way I can skip the commercials

I bet the people paying for the commercials know that as well, making the problem even worse.

all people at nascar care about is making money, which really says alot about our country where money is more important than actually having good entertainment.. on a ford car, the only ford is engine,, with dart heads, summit pistones, a hewland gearbox, wilwood brakes, a truck rear end, rear drive in place of front , on a skoda, which is a branch of vw, is all wheel drive a la audi tt, four cylinder,, skoda's own make, sequential gearbox like the audi r8 le mans car,it almost comes from vw/ audi in one way or another.. in place of being "called" a ford, when it is a sillouhouette racer, money is great, but.. if that is all you care about, what kind of life is that? rallying does'nt make the money, it never has... but..... when have you seen a nascar race in rain, snow and in the dark, all in the same weekend, when they cancel the race b.c of rain, i think, sissy! ;-)-
now, staindg out in the rain is not much fun w/o the right gear thats true, but, rallying is for drivers, nascar is for spectators...
also, you have'nt seen cool until you've seen anti-lag coming otu of an audi quattro s1 coupe or a lancer evo8 at night, that is really cool, and very very hot too,

That's just something they have to deal with. The day after the VCR was invented all these companies new we would make judicious use of the Fast Forward button when watching playback of recorded TV. :)

All business are out to make money. WRC included. They just get their money from different avenues. NASCAR gets their's from advertising and TV deals. WRC probably gets their money from really high franchise fees and entry fees. They obviously dan't get it from gate sales.

If WRC didn't make money, they wouldn't exist. Look at the SCCA ProRally program. I know that they had insurance issues also, but it was a money losing part of the SCCA.

NASCAR actually has provisions to race in the rain on the road courses (I know, they only race on the road twice a year.) They have for about 6 or 7 years. They have just been lucky that it hasn't rained during any of the weekends. Back when they still had the post season exhibition race in Suzuka, Japan, they had practice and qualifying in the rain and from what I remember, the drivers liked it.

I actually signed an online petition like this when Speed went through their first wave of eliminating other forms of racing.

I don't see it making much of a difference even if it is actually given to the head of SpeedTV. They are in the business of making money, and we all need to face the facts that, when it comes to racing, NASCAR is where the money is. Not Rally, F1, MotoGP or the AMA.

I think we are doing good to get the Rolex 24, Sebring 12 and LeMans in live, real time TV. We could be getting a 1 hour recap of those races.

POTTY MOUTH!!!!!!!!!

I think people need to understand that I don't like where Speed is going with their choice of programming. I just have come come to accept the demise of my beloved Speedvision.

If it were my channel, I would have everything EXCEPT NASCAR, IRL, and Champ Car. I would have live coverage of SCCA national races, NASAs championship race, the Pro Finale, Tour championship, rally stuff, motorcycle stuff, Vintage stuff, hell, even sidecar racing.

But, alas, I don't have the cash to buy the network.
