Monday's and Wednesday's work the best for me. It would also be great if we could schedule it earlier in the evening (like 6:00 or 6:30) given the delays we experienced in our past 2 visits.

Be aware they changed their policy so now you have to be a member ($40) to do the sprint races. Or at least the last time I was there, they had a sign saying that would be the case as of 1/16/06. Whether they actually made good on that threat or not I don't know.

Someone might want call RHK and verify, and let the NABISCO folks know.

Emmett and I were there Sunday afternoon with some co-workers and it sounds like they will still allow non-members to run sprint races but it will cost more than $35.

I can't imagine how this even begins to make business since for them. I could see how they would charge $5 or $10 more if you aren't a member (to encourage people to buy memberships). But, to not even allow non-members to run sprint races would be insane.

Well, frankly, they do a bunch of stuff that doesn't make business sense to me. But it's their business, not mine, and I'm glad as hell it's that way.

IMO, their biggest problem right now is that they need to get a lot better at moving people through that place. I know their customers have been telling them that too, since I've heard people complaining about their wait times. As one of the guys there told me when I was talking to him, "we're like a restaurant with only 1 table".

Sprint races tie up that table for basically 3 heats worth of time, but they're not even getting 2 heat's worth of money out of them. So I'm not surprised that they'd want to try to shift folks out of the sprint races and into the quicker and more profitable arrive-and-drives. I'm also guessing this is why we haven't seen the "leagues" or "endurance racing" happen yet.

Requiring membership for sprints also provides some kind of reason to actually become a member, since otherwise all it really is is a T-shirt and one 8-minute heat per year- big deal.

They've got some issues to work out for sure, but they seem to be genuinely trying to improve things there, and that's made the difference for me so far.

I was there last night, the policy now is that non-members doing sprint races pay $45 bucks.

With your membership, you get 1 regular heat (right then, I guess, or applied to your card for future use) & you get 1 regular heat on your birthday (don't know if you lose that if you can't make it on your birthday). So, really, if you use those 2 free heats that would have cost you $40 if you weren't a member, it's sort of a break-even to pay for the membership. Also, as a member, if you purchase multiple regular heats at one time, you get a bit of a price/heat reduction.

So, if you're thinking you're going be over there much, a membership doesn't seem like such a bad thing anyway -- & especially now that they've raised the sprint price for non-mems.
