The only worthwhile stop in Cary is the Chic-fil-A at Harrison Ave, and even just trying to get in and out of there from the interstate makes me want to hurl. Fortunately when I'm eating on the road going through that general area I'm usually going to be passing the 55/54 exit, so I can just go to that Chic-fil-A instead.

Thank goodness for the REI at Southpoint, too. That was the only other reason to be in Cary.

Oh, and I did have the unfortunate experience of living in Cary for a couple years in an apartment off Harrison. *shudder*

I'm gonna find the Harbor Freight in Greensboro next time I need HF for something. It's probably exactly the same drive for me, and lets me avoid North Raleigh. That place is really bad, too.

I'm guessing since you put the smiley faces at the end of your statement you realize this, but that is exactly a large part of the reason for the hatred of Cary. Its this sugar coated, yuppieville, sweetness that revolts me so much about the place. Cary is not a city, it is just a big middle class housing development with the associated retail stores and umpteen million uninteresting chain restaurants. Add to that the attitude of the town leaders to maintain the "sugar coated goodness" at all costs and it makes me want to hurl...
Yet you still live there, so it cannot be that bad... :whoknows:

Huh?? I don't live in Cary. I live in unincorporated Wake county, with a Raleigh address. Try again.

People keep throwing out these numbers like 8, 10, 12 years.

I lived/grew up there for 20....
I didn't throw out the fact that I didn't like it because I hadn't lived there and was jealous. There was a reason I didn't buy a house there...
It sucks no matter how you look at it... Town layout, the cops, there business ethics... you name it.

I lived in wake county for over 20 years, and there is a reason I bought a house in cary, good schools and low crime rate are pretty high up there on the list of reason why I like cary and decided to stay here after living in an apartment for 4 years in cary. I know quite a few of the cops and really have no issue with them, and honstley business ethics really do not effect me very much, and they are no worse than any other town, no town is a utopia and they all have their problems.

I'm really surprised with the attitude towards Cary that persists today. Like it or not, Cary is/was one of the attractions to this area. Which in turn leads to more jobs being created here, many of which benefit a lot of our club members, either directly or indirectly.

Oh yeah, Les, you're funny. He lives right on the edge of the city limits, so he gets to take advantage of the location and low-crime rate, without the taxes. Give it time though, we'll assimilate you.

I'm surprised as well. I live in western Cary near High House and 55 and have yet to run into any of the issues that others are bringing up.

Maybe we can find out where most of our forum members are located.

oh well, it put mine in the wrong place. I don't live in Durham, and wouldn't be critisizing Cary if I did.

That's just weird. I got the same message when I tried to put the home location in Wilson. Oh well, maybe this doesn't work all that well.
