Our BEAUTIFUL baby, Marisa Jean Fredrickson, was born at 5:56pm on Monday, October 24th. She came into the world slightly smaller than estimated, at 5 lbs. 6 oz. and 19 ΒΌ inches, but after the first slightly exciting hour, she's has had no problems and has been very healthy.
It's been a long road to get here, and the last couple days have been no exception, ending in an emergency cesarean on Monday night caused by a placental abruption that came on just hours before her planned induction on Tuesday morning.
Marisa spent her first few days in the NeoICU, but as of this morning has been released to Malia's room/standard care. Malia has made a 1000% improvement in the last 24 hours, after making massive progress in recovering from the general anesthesia, emergency cesarean, and medications used to stabilize her condition (the Magnesium was worse than the surgery). I'm sure finally getting to spend some real time with Marisa helped a lot too.
On a slighly more THSCC note, I appologize to anybody between I540 and Leesville and my house in N. Raleigh, and from there to Rex Hospital on Monday at around 5. That's about the time I found out Malia was loosing blood, and I started running on adrenaline at that point. While I made it a point to stay in control at all times, especially given the misty conditions, I was slightly less, uh, polite and law abiding from that point on. I'm not sure we understood everything happening at that point, as it came on SO fast, but it's a good thing we got to the hospital as soon as we did. However, all said and done, the end product in all this is a wonderful, healthy, beautiful baby girl. Once we get home (sometime in the next day or three) I'll see if I can post some pics. Daddy has to show off
