Well I am going to take the plunge before long and buy me the new Dell Axim x3i. I want it mainly for the organizational skills and GPS. But it is a lot of money, and I want to justify the cost with as many tasks will do as possible. My question does a device like this have any use. I know I can use it for tracking my times/tire pressure and of course season points, but are there any autocross programs out there for PDAs, and what do they do. TIA.

What OS does it run? If it's Palm based, maybe. Windows based, probably not. If you're concerned about autocross, the palm m105 is the best to have, for it's cheap and companies like Extreme GEEZ makes dongles that fit to run their software. - AB

There are some lap time recorders, g-tech, g-analyst type devices that'll download collected data to a laptop. You can playback your lap data to review consistency, cornering forces, wheel spin, optimum shift points etc...

I think there are some PDA programs that will do the same thing now. If I remember where I read the article on the PDA program, I'll forward it to you. By the time I remember, I'm sure 10 other people will tell you where you can buy it! :)

Thanks Aaron, The Dell is Windows based runnig 2003. I am not a huge fan of Palm due to all the sync problems I saw users have when I was an IS intern at a small fabrication company. It seemed every other helpdesk request was concerning this problem. The dell is cheap for what you get, and the new Dell x3i is using the most powerful processor to date at 400 Mhz which is important since I will be using it for GPS. Aaron do you have the web address for Extreme Geez.

I purchased a GEEZ package this year. So while a newbie, I might be able to answer some questions.

PS: I have an old Handspring Visor Deluxe I use for personal stuff, but have a Palm m100 just for use with the GEEZ.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.
