When I was in engineering school (early 90's) I think there was a single required "English" course as part of the curriculum. It was a "Technical English" course and it mostly consisted of learning to speak in front of an audience, etc. So I assume that I and many other Engineers (and Engineering students) are operating on High School English (of which I spent about 80% of my time daydreaming).

Still, I think I could have done a better job on the eBay text. 8)

When I went to NCSU in the late 70's we were required to take two courses in composition and rhetoric. Then the was also a technical writing course. I had a teacher for Eng 112 that introduced the course and said if you were an engeneering student that she would have trouble communicating with you. I asked her if in fact that communication was part of her degree in English. :word:
You guessed it. I flunked her course. :banghead:

I done pretty good in the tech writing course.

BTW still no bids.

When I was an Engineering student at the University of Washington "English" and numerous other non-technical classes were required. However, since mastery of the English language isn't required for the White House anymore, why should it be required for Engineering students?

Anyone wanna lend my 5-6k.

Growing up in Missouri, we learned how to plow fields, how to pray for rain and how to tell when the corn was as high as an elephants eye. We didn't have too much in the way of english classes.

Apparently, not much else is required there anymore, either...(sorry, I'm just very pissed, and couldn't pass up the opening....) :x
