First thing I drove... I think it was a tractor. International Harvester something.

Actual cars, the first one might've been a 1980 Chevy Chevette, but the car I drove in high school & actually owned was a 1980 Trans Am. The one that weighed 3800 lbs or so, and had 155 hp, 4.9L V8 with auto tranny. It was fun on dirt roads, but not so much on paved straights.

since then, I've owned (in order):

1986 Honda Prelude, 5spd - did stupid stuff on public roads
1991 Honda Prelude 2.0Si, 5spd - did stupid stuff on public roads
1994 Honda Prelude Si, 5spd - did stupid stuff on public roads
2001 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS sedan, 5spd - autoxed, rallyxed, tracked
2003 Honda Civic (co-owned with Christine), auto - autoxed
2000 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS coupe (co-owned with Christine), 5spd - autoxed, rallyxed
2005 Subaru WRX wagon, 5spd - autoxed, rallyxed
2005 Subaru Forester XT, auto - autoxed, rallyxed

Not-so-strangely, the only colors you could get in 1998 and 1999 in the US were red and, err, red. What is strange, though, is mine is *not* red. It started out life red. Then in 2000 they brought yellow to the US as the only color. And I lusted after that and got it. Sold the red bike. On a group ride in the mountains the new owner lowsided at pretty low speed (25MPH maybe) right behind me. It went down a small embankment and hit a tree.

I ended up buying it back intended to make it a track-only bike. That was dumb. My original intent was to get used plastic for it off eBay and have it painted. But I couldn't find a front cowl off eBay, so I bought one from a Canadian dealer (the exhange rates at the time meant buying parts from Canada was a *hell* of a lot cheaper than in the US). Didn't specify a color because I didn't care. It came in this *really* cool blue/green (it sorta changes with the light) that I fell in love with. So I resold all the eBay plastic I had gotten and bought all *new* plastic for it from Canada, including a new tank (the tank was dinged in the crash, too). There was *no* structural damage to the bike at all, but all the instruments were crunched as was the wiring harness. So I put a new harness and new instruments and new plastic on it. Then sold the yellow bike and kept this one.

It has a Zero Gravity Double Bubble windscreen, which rocks. Also has a Corbin saddle, which is a must on that bike. I think it has 7k miles total. What's interesting on those things is the digital dash is really a self contained unit in the front of the bike. The "computer" in the back is just a FI controller and nothing more. So when I swapped for the new gauges I lost my mileage *and* the stupid things were metric. Did some comparing with the old unit and found no jumpers or switches, but did find a chip on each with a different label. Figure that must be what sets it between standard and metric units.

But in looking, the reason I needed a new digital dash was that my LCD was busted. The PCB was *not*, however. And the LCD appeared brain dead easy to swap. So I did. Put my original digital dash back in with the new LCD and it worked perfectly and retained my mileage!

The only thing not "right" is the analog speedo has KPH on the outer ring and MPH on the inner ring, which is backward from what US bikes have. But you get used to that pretty quick.

I have since dropped it mildly on one side in my trailer and scuffed the right side a little, but it would mostly buff out. It probably currently needs a new chain and new tires. But given how little I ride it, I'd definitely sell it if you were interested. Asking $3000. It's had religious oil changes, and I am pretty sure I have another filter or two that would go with it.
Oh, I also have the Datatool Digi gear indicator for it, but it's not installed. I put one on the CBR600F4i that I had and really liked it, just never got around to adding it on this bike.
